Change the mouse and save for a high-end monitor, imo. You will stick around with the monitor for years so it's worth an "investment".

You probably won't notice any difference between 120 and 140, hell I can't tell the difference between 100 and 120. I can however tell the difference between 120 and 160, but I haven't seen anything like that in a long time, and I doubt we will see any monitors supporting that soon.

I am actually not sure what the good monitors are at the moment, wanting to get a new one soon.

You should get 120hz because LCD monitors only have one resolution - any others are accomplished with interpolation. While it *could* be that monitor manufacturers are too cheap to work 120hz into scaled down resolutions I think it would be more work than just making 120hz work across the board.

My 120 Hz Iiyama does 120 on any res.

How about input lag?

I have a 21" crt and a samsung 2233rz sitting on my desk atm, the difference is really rather significant, everything is still silky smooth on the 2233rz, but it still feels really quite a bit worse input lag wise.

It should be very low.

Note that they don't run any test with Lightboost turned on in this review.

With Lightboost you get pretty much zero motion blur. This plus the low input lag should get you as close to CRT performance as you can get.

The BenQ XL2411T input lag is at it's lowest at 144Hz, there's more at 120Hz (i.e. what you need to use lightboost).

I'm under the impression that input lag is constant regardless of refresh rate.

Obviously you get this with 144Hz:

"Technically it is displaying 1.2 times as much information; able to draw an additional 24 frames per second. In practice this does make things seem just a little faster but it really depends on the sensitivity of the user to such things."

But that's not the same as lower input lag.

I dont think $120-160 will be enough!

120-160 isnt a hard limit, just a hope of mine. I'm not sure I need/want a 24 inch monitor as my desk is set up pretty close to me. Any other suggestions?

I recently bought a 27" screen. It takes some time to get used to it, but now I'm ok with it. You can always play with black borders to limit your screensize and make full use of the screen with other applications.

I have lg w2363d with 120hz which is an awesome display but unfortunately LG doesnt make them any more. :(

Honestly I am in the same boat, I was running 2 22" Misubishi CRT's for the longest time (after my 20" Trinitrons went fuzzy) and one of them took a dump recently. I haven't had the will or desire to pull it apart to find the problem with it, and I know. My original plan involved 2-3 LED lit projectors with mirror imaging projected to the back of my desk on a piece of fog plexi or something, but I at least want a 1280x1024 resolution and the LED lit projectors in my price range really haven't gotten over 1280x800.

nearly every LCD out there disappoints me in some way when it comes to gaming or desktop use, but they are way better than they used to be. I am running a Radeon 6870, so lightboost isn't an option (but at least that page that was linked looks promising).

I realize I'll have to compromise some day, so I am very interested to see how this comes out.

AFAIK It's not useful unless you get 144fps.
