I've always found amazing the difference between quake players with other fps people: it's like 50 points of iq or more no matter the age bracket.

Plus those 2 did the fragmentation themselves (pc against consoles) and in the end are complaining because of them (halo4 players) not doing the switch to the popular and probably definitive shooter (black ops 2). What they are complaining about is halo4 not being the definitive shooter, not that there is a lack of one.

In the end people play and watch what they want. It is completely absurd thinking people will stop having preferences or that there will be a truly timeless game (I can count with my hands the ones that have been truly active for more than 10 years)

A game that allows for visual renewals could potentially be nearly timeless. I'm pretty sure there will be one, I'm just hoping all of the games won't be dumbed down to oblivion by then. As for now, I just want a deathmatch game that lasts until the next one. One can dream.

q3/ql, cs 1.6, scbw, war3 are examples of games that have lasted for 10 years+. QW, q2, doom simply aren't by any means whatsoever.

QW is still quite active, so as Skulltag. You can always find a game. Small community doesn't mean "bunch of nostalgic people".

quake2 has never had more than 100 viewers at the same time. QL does 26x that twice a week

cos q2 was a different era, no real streaming, the qtv was bad so people watched mainly demos, qw had alot more viewers. besides viewer don't mean shit as i stated with q4 and pk had loads of viewers but hardly any players and players is what matters, Q3 had 50x the players in 2000-2005 than QL has today. Its a dead game that doesn't even have half the feature OSP had
