could be the "accel bug" that to my knowledge has never been fixed.

when I tried accel I noticed it. other players have the same issue, sometimes the accel doesn't kick in and it feels like your sensitivity dropped.

I don't think there is a solution. It seems random, maybe there's a fix or something but I don't think there is :(

Time before i had teh same problem, then i moved from xp to 7, i started to use ql prism, atuoexec.

And no more accel bug.

Are you sure that this could be xp issue? Ive never had any problems with accel back on CPMA.

It happens in Windows 7 as well.

I'm the same, never had the issue in CPMA but yet it occurs in QL.

I've had mouse problems forever, never accel though.

I just cvar_restart, delete both repconfig and qzconfig, reset all game settings through the website and create an autoexec with cvar_restart and exec myconfig.cfg and it seems to work

I've had nothing but problems with rep/qzconfig

Thanks, Ill try that. Weird thing is though that this keeps happening even in between maps, basically whenever ql tries to load some data. I always end up reexecing until its fine.

I have sortta the same issue. Pretty much quit playing lately becuase of it. Best way i can describe it.

Mouse looses it's "grip" and seems really "loose". Like it goes from being able to track well to just wagging around. Seems like it's taken a long time of playing quake live to notice this. As the change is very suptle and difficult to notice but it has a huge impact on aiming reliablility. As mentioned before it happens randomly at least once every 3 maps or so. The "change" does seem at it's worst when mouse accel is used.

I've tried different in_mouse, uninstalling completely, lowering sensitivity to 2ft 360. With/without accel. ... Extremely frustrating.

I was asking around and some of my ql friends told me the issue is fixed once they quit/rejoin the server once the sens change occurs. However, it seems to only work for people without accel.

I went through esr and ql forums and found out theres actually tons of people with this kind of problem. I tried everything people recommend to do and found one thing that works so far (testing it for two days only, so no guarantees):

put the following into your autoexec:

clearcvar sensitivity
clearcvar cl_mouseaccel
exec your.cfg
in_restart

I'll try that too

Ok, I was just etremely lucky, it doesnt work anymore and the issue is back. So square one. Did you ever get a reply from sync on this bug?

Nup, I think mainly because you can't really replicate the problem :\

uhm, any reason you put this in your autoexec? i thought this would be a fix to use while this happens during play, eg. something like this:

set clearaccel "clearcvar sensitivity; clearcvar cl_mouseaccel; exec autoexec.cfg; in_restart"
alias accelfix "vstr clearaccel"
bind f12 "accelfix"

The obvious reason would be not having to manually exec every time and get the proper settings at startup right away.
And messing with settings ingame leads to random results for me, so Im just sticking with what works for me :)

it seems that setting QL's priority to real time via task manager does the job for some people too, didnt work for me though.

I had this problem a year ago, stopped using accel, tried it recently, and I still have the problem (it's likely the same problem other players like rapha have had).

Basically, my mouse sens and accel seem to be different depending on the map. I noticed it most when I played some CA games on DM6 and it switched to overkill. On DM6 it felt slower, I felt like I had to keep raising my accel and sens to get the feel I wanted. The map changed to overkill and it felt a lot faster and the accel felt higher too. It sucks, I don't know if there's a solution yet.

some of that could have been your perception of your mouse sensitivity based on areas of confinement on DM6 versus the openness of overkill. if you have to turn around further to follow someone up close as you commonly have to do on DM6, and if there is not a wide open space, your mouse can feel slower because of limited field of view, or view space.

take that same fight to mid level on over kill and its a whole different ball game.

not saying there's not a legit issue here, but your perception of sensitivity vs accel could also be to blame in scenarios like the aforementioned.

forgot to mention this point: objects seem to be moving more slowly when there is one large reference point along the path of travel. think of it as when youre a kid and you drive past a huge factory on the side of the road without knowing it's actual size. for looking at it long enough, with how slowly it actually leaves your line of sight, it can seem like you are moving half the speed you actually are. it takes a very large reference point to have this effect, like a constant wall that is very close to you. dm6 has lots of fights where this type of thing is possible, and it could most certainly cause this type of false perception or "eyes playing tricks on you" kind of thing.

overkill's reference points at most spots on the map are much further away due to the openness and layout of the map, which could allow for the perception that your mouse sensitivity is higher. fewer reference points and further away - perception of faster movement.

just my 2 cents.

I just removed everything from qzconfig.cfg, leaving only "exec myconfig.cfg" then set file atrubite for "read only". Never experienced accel bug since then (3 years).

Ive tried the qzconfig fix and it doesnt work. It infact introduced more problems for me.
When i tried that when starting a game autoexec does not execute everything and i have to type in /exec autoexec /vid_restart /in_restart everytime i join.

And after going thru doing that for a few days....
the bug is back.

The sensitivity is still the same numerical value in game but when i measure my mouse movement across the mousepad to make a 360 it varies a few inches difference from game to game. With accel off of course.

As I said, the accel / sens bug is gone for me.

From what you wrote, I assume your autoexec isnt working. Check the usual stuff like theres no typo in the config file and also that the first time you run autoexec, you do /exec autoexec.cfg, including the ".cfg". From then on, your config should be execed automatically.
Do that and change something obvious, such as cg_drawGun, to see if your config was execed the next time you run ql.

Qzconfig and repconfig should contain of only "exec my.cfg" and should be set to read only, as for autoexec, heres what I use:

clearcvar sensitivity
clearcvar cl_mouseaccel
exec my.cfg
