I haven't even seen the screenshot but what's the problem? If someone wants to maintain artificially high ranking then he needs to not play vs real ppl so he is isolated from rest of community anyway.

It's like whining that na/sa/australia/eu elo don't correlate directly or that Dahang has highest elo. It doesn't matter because the point of public elo rating is to rank ppl in against their opponents.

It's really not important. If he plays real opponent then his rank will get corrected in few matches. I remember a thread ranting about some guy stat padding when in fact he was playing exclusively against his roommate. This doesn't affect anyone. It's public ranking and should be used only for match making purposes. Such activity doesn't break this functionality.

I know it's not *important*, but it does matter. If it didn't matter, then the QLRanks team wouldn't punish such behaviour, as I just found out.

im 1400 elo, and i was able to beat/play as equal against 1700 elo guys on t7/ztn... there were situations when i was raped by 1300 elo guys on dm13/aero...


theres too much randomness in quake... good/bad days, initial spawns, lucky respawns, spam....

Most starting spawns are balanced and most probably you cannot name more than 3 unfair situations.

Respawns are much, much, much more predictable than in previous quake games.

it is possible to describe skill level in quake with numbers. you are too black/white on this. the number is an indicator, not definition. by your logic the system fails if a 1699 elo player beats a player with 1700 elo

it's a sign of a good player who can control or take into account randomness. and btw. grenades are not random. if you spam the same spot, the nades always land in the same spot. just because you are unable to calculate where they are going to land if you move your mouse around, doesn't mean they are random.

1 elo point is no differance, but 300 is a lot... according to wikipedia, player with 100 more points should win 5 out of 8 games... it doesnt work like this in quake :-) mostly because of activity and randomness elements i mentioned...

eg: av3k has 2231 points... player who is obviously worse is rated top5 with 2409 points... no shit on demon tho :D

it actually takes more than 10 s if the elo difference is big. so, to pad that 1 elo point, u need like - 10s after f3 to start the game, 1s at the least to forfeit or kill urself or let him kill u (which takes more than 1s), another, like, 15-20s for the scoreboard to go and to rejoin the game after being put spec. so at least 30s for 1 elo point if the difference btw the 2 accounts is big in elo (and it gets big fast if u stat pad like that). retarded

Public ELO is just for fun, the only ELO that should considered important is tournament games (ala chess)
