Im having a really hard time playing that guy, especially online when I cant even see the guy but getting hit anyways.
This day was the 2nd time I touched Quake since Dreamhack.
Ever Since I moved and having shit ping I get pissed off every time im playing because I just dont know how to play on high ping.
I am used to hit my shots, but I cant even hit easy shots.
I was really tired in my body, and i had an infection incomming(Which I did not know about).
Right now I am having an cold with fever since Monday.
On dm6 I came into this fight at start, Evil made about 320 dmg with plasma, and I made 6dmg. The funny thing was that, he warped so I couldnt even see him. And this was all I could think about rest of the final.
spartie, we sincerely wish you good luck, comfortable all-included spawns with sluts and plugs and fair ping, demand 1 your server after each 1 opp's, play in the most fair conditions internet could provide.
but please, ffs, dont fucking forfeit final, because its bad for the dying game somebodys trying to save, cause ppl loosing a well-deserve bo5 after like 5 hours of the show. if you're like in a mood for forfeit, forfeir in 1/2 or better 1/4 or even better 1/2048...
...or even - now. type forfeit here, we'll understand.
Where is your thread from Qcon back when your golden boy couldn't be bothered to even play a map because he didn't feel like learning it for the tournament?
while in general everyone's game is, I think you mean "especially based" as in, if he doesn't hit his clutch rails, rockets etc. he will more often lose. that's a flaw in his play, not an excuse for quitting a tournament final.
I think not raging so hard and adapting more to not being able to hit as good as usual, spartie could still have won. he hit amazing shots in all games before, maybe, just maybe, evil was just that bit better that day at evading shots and making prediction shots himself.
Finally I can't believe a player of that level struggles with the netcode and bad connection to that degree. I thought that the master players have it all figured out how to predict, to lead or lag with hitscan etc. and generally abuse the new netcode. I thought it was only me feeling at a disadvantage all the time because of the weird netcode... actually kind of a relief! :>
Please, next time, wait until at least the 5min mark to ragequit in finals though. It was a very unpleseant anti-climax after your t7 game against Cooller :(
I understand your rage, I understand your complaining about the netcode.
BUT:
your game was always just based on hitting a lot. Even on LAN. And if you did not hit, you got completly destroyed. And I've seen that for quite a long time now. But instead of changing your gamestyle raise your abbility to adapt to different situations (like a bad day with bad aim) you continued to play just your game, which ends, as already mentioned, in complete destruktion if you don't hit.
I won't judge that. It works for you. You are a very good player, far beyond my skill level, but maybe it would be good to overthink the whole strategy and base your game on other skills than just aim (and sometimes very good timing)
What if he enjoys an aim-based game? It sure is fun when you're hitting. >: ]
The main thing is that you have to ENJOY the playtime, which means you need to play YOUR game. If it's a win, then a win, if it's a loss, then a loss.
evil is familiar with playing 80-90 ping (I know it's disgusting), you're not. Well, 50ish is fine, but not necessarily when you got used to SWE's 8-15ish pings. : P
For a summary, I honestly think that you don't need to explain yourself. Everybody has crap days, mentally or technically - it doesn't really matter. Better to quit in time instead of constant raging and half-assed game which you'll lose anyways.
ofc weird is, that is just why he plays on DE with 30ms against 60's , to have disadvantage (martyr much?) so that he could boast about his winnings (trololo) after... U just cant deny that perfect logic.
HI Guard. It sounds that you dont have much Idea what a good connection means. I guess you should have, since you come from eastern europe, which was famous for horrible connections in the q3 era. You seem to get stuck to the argument that the lower pings are, the better it is.
Ever since Quakelive was released and my moved to my own place which has a TV-Cable connection (comhem) 200/50 mbit i have felt the problem with no only bad ping, but jitter, packetloss, warping, overall delay and other crazy things that can not be explained by having an "ok ping".
The last couple of months my connection has been really weird and up and down. For example, in the beginning of this Winter, i had pings around 60-65 to DE and a little bit of packetloss, it was playable and i got sort of used to it (not with rl). Later in the winter my ping went up to around 75-80 instead, and the game was almost unplayable, however, sometimes the ping went down to around 70 and it felt like 30. No Packetloss, no jitter, everything was decent.
The last couple of weeks, my ping has gone down to about 55, the problem now is the huge packetloss witch has resulted in warping both on my part BUT the enemies also tend to warp and run unsmooth. Sometimes people can just show up without im beeing able to ever see them before, just like Spartie described. Its way worse compared to the ping 80 i had before. Its not even funny to try to play a "competetive" game now. When i watch my demos, i can see how i and enemies lag, my movements tend to be affected by it as well, since i get some kind of freezelag. When i die, i hear the sound of being killed, but its a fair amount of delay to the "kill screen".
Finally, my point is, Ping is just a number. Ping does not tell the whole story, Most people would agree that they rather played with ping 60 without any packetloss, which is possible to get used to than a 30ish ping with the problems i just described above. There is no way i can get used to a connection that is so random.
Hi man! LOL! I know what does packetlost and jumping ping means. As you mentioned above, I have experience 10 year with shit connections since q3 era.. Just if lagometer/netgraph shows green line nice and no red spikes and ping should change just in 2 numbers , etc 48-56 or 16-24, these pings are good. Atm my self have green line not smooth and have red spikes sometimes and etc ping jumps from 48-82 in 0.5second. It's sux don't have stable ping and it sux to know, that you may warp for others..
like hes the only one ragequitting, eventhough he is not known for that behaviour whats the big deal, players lose their cool from time to time stop nagging
Spartie is a don he's good enough to get into these games so if he wants to quit midway its upto him. He don't have to play on to please people if you don't like it you progress in tournaments yourself and change the world and you can please the viewers rather then focus on your own game. I don't see how him quitting will hurt an apparently dying game. It seems to have generated a buzz which will probably make things even more interesting from a spectators point of view lool will he or won't he?
as for the "respect him for what" comment, for talking to the community and replying to a simple question. He has no reason to do that because he knows idiots like you exist to simply hate.
