Roy, does it really that destructive for FaceIT to allow Russian streams? It was a lot of fun to listen to 4ce, uaShadow or White-Ra's incredible commentaries and I can say that cutting them off u get no more than 400 viewers added overhead to your streams, which, among 2000-4000 avg. viewerbase, as it is now, isn't the number to be concerned about.

Russian weekly streams were always like 400-600 viewers avg. (them being solid hardcore Quakers though), except for major LANs, and it's not them Russians exactly who r making your platform a success.

On the other hand - many Russians just stopped watching FaceIT cups, thus reducing overall QL viewerbase (now they're better off watching demos when possible).

Look at it - our legendary Quake commentators like uaShad etc. r forced to stream some lame noobian casual stuff (won't entangle into 'game X vs QL' discussion, but the fact remains intact). Just look at what they're streaming - it's pathetic.

But.
Each opportunity they got - they hop on back in business and the streams r back to it's glory!

Would you kindly consider allowing Russians to show and cast your brilliant fierce QL championships like back in the days?

its not about liking or disliking QL - they r oldskool Quake gladiators (in their majority), they will watch the demos or vods later, if available (but not the streams). It's about the legendary casters - imagine u have Joe and Jay casting some Quake, like, on a weekly basis, but then suddenly they're cut off, because championship orgs decided they draw too much viewers. U DO want Jay'n'Joe back to QL no matter what, don't u? That's how we, Russians, feel towards our casters - 4ce, Shadow, White-Ra and a few others.

And here's another point - 2gd ran his QL tourneys and allowed for Russian stream/restream anytime, thus bringing more attention to his show. He didn't have any drops of his viewerbase, only raises.

The number of Russians who switched to main FaceIT streams is quite negligible, but on the other hand it drew away quite comparable number of FaceIT fans/participants.

You'd love your games being casted by 2gd, and you should understand that when such awesomeness (which is at least equal to Russian casting) is rejected for some not-so-solid reasons - it just does not compute.

Roy should kindly consider thinking over ways to allow Russian streams/restreams.

what conclusion am I supposed to draw, then ? that you're getting quite known ? after that guy made his request, you get in (and take the time to reply, that's very nice of you and I'm being sincere here) and just put that figure "we gained 2k viewers", if the point wasn't to show the giant strides you made since you made your content exclusive, what is it ?

say clearly "that's bullshit, since that move we got 500 (or more)) viewers and those are clearly russians, the jump is too big to be a natural grow of our viewer base"

I think their reason is pretty solid.
They put money in this thing, offering $125 every sunday with $0 buy-in.
I reckon their revenue comes from the number of viewers/followers on Twitch.

Why should they give up a part of that revenue so your russian casters can generate profit with their stream without putting a dime on the line ? (even if they dont, FaceIt still shouldn't be forced to cut down their own numbers)

Maybe roychez/FaceIt would reconsider if your beloved casters offered money to inject in the FaceIt competitions

You can rewrite your 2GD/Joe analogy as many times as you want and explain how great your casters are, you won't get my sympathy vote on this.

They don't get any decent number of Russian viewers/followers on twitch. 5-10 guys from MSK spamming ruskiy fancy words in the chat sidebar isn't the 'overwhelming' number of added viewers FaceIT is targeting to.

As being said many times before - the numbers of Roy's platform followers have raised due to smart management, high-level approach to streaming aesthetics AND The Legends Cup ad campaign, plus the very Legends Cup show itself - people were amazed by the awesomeness and many have become hooked on FaceIT's excellent weekly jobs from then on.

But not Russians, bro. Some of them watched the Legends Cup alright, but due to a number of reasons they won't follow.

Maybe you r not quite getting it guys - Russian Quake community is huge, but, like, 90% consists of grown-up oldskool Quake bad bloody motherfuckers, 25-30+ years old. They're watching and playing QL for fun. Only a few of them understand English so well, that they can comprehend commentators at least a bit, but even then - they'll watch Quake not for Quake only, but also to listen to our streamers' wonderful commentating, both in-depth and funny, with jokes and that special mood of Russian pro-streamers' casting. With picmip 18 at that, and their beloved hometown chat sidebar, which is bursting with hilarious posts all the way.

FaceIT got statistics now that it runs for half a year - just allow those Russians to stream for a couple of weeks, a month, maybe, and watch the viewer numbers - they WON'T drop. Roy can also get a sudden surprise - the numbers will grow. Not a paradox, I assure u.

Among my fellow Moscow Quakers I'm the only one who keeps watching every FaceIT stream. About 100-200 guys r still hanging around goodgame.ru platform at sundays, and they, actually, ARE watching FaceIT's battles, but on goodgame's QLRanks' restream. They're not stealing anything from FaceIT - they stream only QLRanks, but those 100-200 guys r hanging around sunday QL streams for QL itself AND for some communication with fellow Russian/Ukranian/Belarus gladiators, which means Russian chat and goodgame's platform.

I know - it's business and doesn't really have to reach Roy's heart or sumtn, but Roy, when you look at it this way - your numbers WON'T drop (10-20 or even 100 Russians out won't make a deal), on the other hand - you will have your platform GREATLY popularized among Russian-speaking Quakers, and I assure u - they WILL follow your ultimate-bad-ass company and participate/watch your streams more. For fun and stuff, u know.

They will also buy out your cargo of t-shirts and whatever u think of next. IF you popularize your platform through allowing Russian casting. They won't give a shit about t-shirts otherwise:).

Man, u didn't get the irony (or what u call it in English). An analogue for example: when someone says (especially on the internets) 'I'll kick your ass' or 'Russians will buy out everything' - it's no reason to run looking for an armored plate to cover your ass nor to raise production of everything.

The point is - if FaceIT will try allowing Russian streams for a couple of weeks or a month - we will definitely see the viewer number delta. Based on how many Russian Quakers I know (personally or indirectly) I state that Roy's numbers won't drop, thus making embargo measures obsolete. If it proves otherwise - so be it (it just needs a few weeks for solid statistics).

I repeat - we can experimentally and analytically test the viewernumber delta. When FaceIT numbers 'skyrocketed' from 1k to 3k it was wise overall platform upgrades and management plus Legends Cup time. Or do u claim that 400-600 constant viewers of gg streams suddenly added no less than 2k to FaceIT numbers? Think again.

As for 'assure' point: the statement of 'FaceIT will be popularized through Russian streams' is based on how 2gd's Arenas were met on gg's streams - at least some gg guys were actually following 2gd studio just because they wanted to support it somehow, and they based their opinion on gg's streams, not official 2gd channel which they wouldn't watch anyway (many reasons, language among them). Russian commentators were even saying it out loud many times - smth like: 'show your love for QL and 2gd, follow his channel and facebook acc'. That way - those little numbers 2gd wouldn't get through his official channel he got through allowing Russian streams and, read carefully, POPULARIZING his work among Russian Quake elders.

now, could they at least allow russian casters to pick games not on face it tv ? face it keeps the final four and the big ass number of viewers when it matters and the russians get their show (with maybe a demo cast of the semi's/final later on ?)

best show so far (at least for me) was with ddk/stermy, the brit is an able lead caster and stermy delivered something missing immensely until now : fucking INSIGHT

imagine for a sec the vast majority of the quake scene is based in the usa, same stuff with a studio but with a so so caster (I'm being nice here) and 2gd was connecting to the serve to cast the matches but suddely would be told to stop it
