edit: it's a 10 minute vid, I can do some translations if that would please you.
First minute(0:44-2:09) starts explaining why he prefers serious sam despite being less popular and played than quake.
Movement is faster in Serious Sam because holding a knife gives you a feeling of faster movement and you can jump higher. You gain the same speed with all weapons in quake, which means it's less tactical. Quake movement is very linear and is composed mainly of straightforward jumping that makes annoying WHO WHO WHO noises. Quake doesn't have as many vertical jumps as Serious sam, it has a few jump pads though. I'm not saying quake is slow by any means.
(2:10-3:08) There's a bigger variety of weapons in Serious sam (14), quake only has 9 weapons and there's not much variety. The granade launcher seems week because the nades fly out with a much slower speed as opposed to serious sam
The sniper deals more damage than railgun
(3:10- 6:57) the pickups. If you ever saw a professional QL duel, when the match starts they instantly jump on either red or mega and only time said items, sometimes megahealth, sometimes red armor and sometimes even quad. 95% of wins is determined based on this pickups. If a player managed to steal a few more red armours than his opponent because he calculated it better, he will win the match, HOWEVER! in serious sam if you have a good accuracy you may also WIN even if you neglect some of those items. This doesn't mean the items are not important. In quake, they just keep calculating and timing things, maybe shoot each other just a bit and go back to timing items. In serious sam you have to be always on your toes, even if you pick up a red armour equivalent of quake. In quake, once you get a lot of health and armour the match is over. This means serious sam is more versatile and entertaining. Don't want it to sound like quake is linear, but we're just doing a face to face comparison here. You have to try it to believe it. All in all Serious Sam Deathmatch is more versatile and timing items isn't as crucial as in quake. The match is more open because you can camp a very strong weapon, let your opponent pick up armor but still do massive damage and win. If you ever saw Painkiller match you maybe noticed that as soon as a player gets an armor, the other is basically fucked.
(7:30-8:30) I can see Serious Sam in the professional esports, it can be appreciated for what it is. Some say that Serious Sam weapons are all overpowered. I don't see it like that, I've played a lot of players during the years and so far no one has been able to "abuse" this overpowered weapons against me or make me lose a match because of it. But at least it's not like quake where you take those 3 thingies and just shoot a bit with shaft and rail
(8:30-9:52) I recommend this game even to some pros to actually give the game a try, this sums up the end of this video, I just had to share this with you, I salute you
.. I'll do more later if you want, it's quite cringy.
