This has to be sarcasm... but in case its not: You are correct, Quake is insanely unpopular in North America. Unless you fancy 1v1 pubbing or the lesser modes like instagib or clan arena, there really isn't much to be seen here. Move along now -_-

I tried playing in a Europe Server once and I had almost 200 ping.

I've been without an internet connection for a few months but hope to return to the scene.

I've been playing a lot of 1v1 vq3 with spiterbots, watching a lot of demos and really have a much better grasp of duel than I did before. shame I spent so long being an ffa pub stomper and never got into duel. duel is such a thinking game but tense too. cod is so mindless idk how 25+ yr olds can play that stuff, or most new games. predictable ai and gimmicks, games just aren't fun anymore.

I hope there is still some duelers left, 1300 elo is the most I could manage. 1500+ is my goal

after a certain age I feel single player games lose any depth. just patterns and repition. I just can't get lost in a story anymore, fancy graphics don't impress me and the collectable/unlockeable/leveling up gimmicks get so tiresome and cheap. how do people enjoy all this crap?

I've grown out of videogames but quake is still so enjoyable and deep. I feel like such an outsider when the only video game related shit my friends talk about is zombie rounds or prestiging.

Portugal Spain and Algeria/Moroco/Tunisia used to play on FR even Turkey if i remember correctly. FR server where the link between South West and East of europe.

I'm playing regularly, CA and duels.

Any ideas to get Quake popular in NA.

I know there's a great deal of guys in NA that are motherfucking dedicated to Quake... but I have no idea if they are all doing their separate thing and lend eachother a hand occasionally, or if they all help eachother out constantly with every single tourney/cup/project.

It would be ideal for Fatal1ty to play an active role in organizing Quake cups with his name on them, or even just providing a few measly dollas for prize money... but yeah I think Fatal1ty's "love for quake" these days is just limited to stomping tier2 shitters for the lulz.

Does anyone have any kind of statistics or measurments of QL activity in NA over the last months / years? Is such a thing possible to calculate?

Right now there are only 14 populated servers for me.
I live in NA

The only time you might not be able to find a game is like dawn, and even then there is for sure a FFA server.

I can't even see the low tier servers and there are always games available for me. You make it seem like it's completely dead. You either must be really picky or have fucked up server browser settings.

Symptom of a dying game is that low tier servers are empty not high. When high are empty it's already "dead".

I'm saying I can't see them because it won't let me, not because they don't exist. I know for sure there are lots of lower tier players because I see them in some of my friends' games.

actually the browser being broken (for over 4 years now) is part of the issue. Also before everyone jumps down my throat its only broken for certain locations, not everyone. I basically have to select each location seperately to see whats going on in them. If I select USA or In My Vicinity it will shows me 4 locations out of 10 in NA. Its not good practice to make an already small game appear that much emptier. No wonder locations like Palo Alto and SFO just vanished (cause no one used them, cause no one SAW them).

I frequently log on during hours that should display a full browser screen like Saturday at 2pm or something, only to see 1 or 2 servers, usually FFA way below my skill level... its a joke tbh, just like id software.

Try the filter "North America".

Yeah "In Your Vicinity" stopped working a while ago for me but North America works fine.

There are FFA servers usually. It's just there are not many servers in total that are populated. There are some games.
