well sure he won nothing offline(though 2nd @ QC 2011, twice 3rd at IEM and multiple top3-4 finishes at other lans is really good) but so far he has been the closest to 'big quake four' the last 4 years beating at least one of them every LAN
and if you look at his online achievements there's hardly anyone coming close to that
he's ok, but not as legend as cypher and avek despite being a big name in ql =) don't know too much about his zotac domination from early days, but what if the big four played as many zotacs as he did, what would the statistics say then?
looks like the legends played a few themselves
another thing is, if you click on the history http://qlive.zotac-cup.com/en/cups/archive you'll see that except one cup against av3k, strenx wins everytime he's in the last 8 (you can't see the whole bracket)
of course there are "only" 65 cups, that's still pretty impressive
cypher and avek looked pissed, I hope it makes them practice more, especially now ipl 6 is cancelled
well cooller's a nub in ql (still won IEM) but he won some tournaments in q3 I've heard, av3k won some big q4 event(s) and two ql DHs, both have been around for much longer than strenx
Sure you can? Cooller's a legend no doubt about it. Strenx is a newschool french fag, no doubt about that either. Some day he might be a legend but that day isn't today.
Sorry but no offense to Avek and cooller but quake live has a big 2 not big 4 as those 2 combined never won a single tournament that rapha and cypher or even just Rapha went to
the only ql lan cooller won was iem european finals in 2010. In the grand finals between the american (the rapher) and the euro champs cooller lost to rapha.
lol it's funny watching the purepwnage guy casting a lol match lol
The wins are really only defined by how much the player trained before the cup. 2 only QL LANs when Cooller prepared A LOT were Quakecon 2010(and he nearly beat Cypher there) and for IEM V Euro(and he didnt really keep up training that much for WC after he won EC). Av3k actually trained for that IEM EC a fucking lot aswell if not more, but after he lost the final he went full emo and never really trained that much again which in the end led to his 'retirement'. But in early stage of QL he was a fucking monster
Yeah but its about results not coulda woulda shoulda didn't. U can't say oh cooller if he tried would win or does better, cause potential means nothing when we are talking about the very top
Couldn't agree more. Such logic is retarded to say the least. Why not call it a big 6? Surely f0rest and GeT_RiGhT can be considered part of it, seeing how good their aim and game sense is in CS. If they just put all the time into quake instead of CS there is no doubt they would win a lot of tournaments! Actually let's make it the big 106 while we're at it. Because surely the top 100 chess players of the world would be able to compete on the highest level in quake given their amazing calculating abilities. If they only put more time into it!
At the end of the day there are thousands if not millions of people who "could" win tournaments. What matters is who does prepare best and comes out on top in the end.
Yeah pretty much, I mean let's face it if everyone in the world had played as much quake as cooller etc then cooller etc would probably just be standard players. I've always detested the oh your only better than me cause you play more excuse. It's like well of course playing more makes me improve more hehe
well who did strenx lose to in the final of qcon.... ;) ql has been dominated by cypher and rapha, all other players have been significantly worse performers titles wise
well you're nitpicking ! hah !
cypher can beat rapha 3-0 and rapha can beat him 3-0 so I don't see why "only cypher" wouldn't be the same as "only rapha" in terms of tournament "difficulty"
I see your point, those two clearly dominate(d?) in quake live
I think it's about big four because cooller/avek/cypher/rapha placed regularly at LAN tournaments with the occasional strenx/killsen/whoever claiming a spot
like mu/arsenal/chelsea/liverpool were the big four, in the end only two teams can really contend but you always group them because they're the 4 at the top (and because there are 4 spots for the champions league, but stop nitpicking)
