Why? It`s like the easiest way to get someone. You seed and there is your ip. Torrents have been basecally dead (compared to other stuff) in Germany.

Well, you need a decent vpn (expensive), invites to various smaller groups (takes time) and then you have to seed the stuff. Dunno but usenet seems more comfortable to me, not that I would use it :O

even 5€ a month for a vpn isn't expensive (imo) and it has other benefits aswell. for example avoiding the gema vs. youtube debacle and for mobile internet in general.

Well, in my own country, the authorities target the people who host piracy sites and services, not the individual users. Which makes sense if you actually want to stop a site and not just ruin some random peoples lives.

then your obscure shit probably isn't as obscure as mine :) for some genres it's literally impossible to find decent releases "in the open".

yea, i was thinking about some friends of mine who work as djs. they told me they basically caved in and get most of their stuff through beatport.

eg., "house/techno": stimming / daniel borz / oliver schories / ivan smagghe / oliver koletzki / prins thomas / chloe / jake the rapper / sascha braemer / magda / ...

in all cases what i (they) need is a full, up to date discography including every relevant remix. that is very, very hard to find unless you want to pay for it.

dance music is made for the dancefloors, so by that logic there is little to no reason to even release something at all for home audience. the "dj culture" is pretty focused on making money through live events and what not. but why do they agitate? it's their fucking job to find something that noone has ever heard, cause they're pretty replaceable.

(btw. if you've heard about the gema issue, letting the djs pay for the songs they're playing- i'm all for that)

on the other side you can find a lot of stuff by these artists. often it's something like complete "stil vor talent" label bundles. if noone made the effort to bundle these artist's discography (CAUSE THEY SOUND ALL THE SAME ANYWAYS), it is bad luck i guess. :p

i would call that 'private' music, not obscure, because it's not actually published by labels.

chart related music is actually a pretty small portion of the available music in general (i would say maybe a small one-digit number). and thankfully it gets smaller.

and whole music genres derived from the internet, let alone got boosted into people`s mind.
