Roy, bro, include t4 in the next week's mappool (sunday cup too), as the oldskool spirit refuels anticipation and creates extremely spectacular showdowns. t4 will replace hektik perfectly as a fast-paced map. Sinister is clearly not needed, smth just isn't right with this map. t9 (house of decay) will fit much, MUCH better.

Even the most trivial maps in quakelive are much more complex than +back teleporter spam, so this kind of review sounds like rage of noob who cannot improve and has no vision to see beyond one gameplay pattern. There were some really nice plays on t9 back in IEM days, and it's one of cooller's favourite maps, so clearly you're not getting something.

New maps are new maps, it's only by psychological flaw you automatically associate them with moving forward, while really most of new maps are even more boring and limited than old ones, and rarely they add anything.

U still don't get it, do u... It's not the map that enforces +back or +forward style, it's the opponent you're fighting with. U sound like a total +backer pussy right now. I remember the guys like u whining about dm13 in the mappool beacuse of '+back' but those whining bitches somehow forgot completely about Spartie's total termiantion mode, Cypher-Rapha-Cooller's insanely intense 1-0/2-1/7-0 scoreline amazing matches (none of which could be defined as '+back' either) and so on. Oh yeah - don't even try thinking of Evil - this guy will show (shove?) u some +back, up your stupid ass.

Secondly - it's not like u can add a different solutions (on any map, be it oldskool or new) to a situation on a map, it's how you perform it, or add your own pace/movement/weapon choice. If u got mega to defend - u must defend it, no matter the map, if u got a red to attack u gotta attack it, and so on. Sinister doesn't add any new approaches at all, but also looks improper as of now. Maybe it needs reredux, with some items replaced.

Thirdly - classic maps have proven to be heavily charged with tactical schemes, balanced weapon/item placement and extremely spectacular show-wise at that, - this is why they've become CLASSIC. Poor boy - have you even seen tourneys with t4-t9 still intact? It looks like u have only seen the demos of your own total sucking on those maps, hence all the hate.

The recent dm6 activity clearly shows how an oldskool map (so much hated by little girls like u, kevz) is giving us a solid amazing performances all the time. The show on any oldskool map completely depends on the participants (take any recent dm6 vod of quarters and higher - you'll see some wonderful chessplay).

Here's the plan, kevz: watch t2 demos with Polos, Fat, Cooller, Unkind, Lexer, Death and learn. Watch and learn. You will find a lot of stuff u haven't seen before.

i play dm6 quite often still. its not the worst map. its more because most people dispise new maps because theyre lazy, refuse to learn something new. i didnt mind watching dm6 for a while on the faceit stuff, but i will most deffo be ok with it if its gone when the season ends.

sure a new map can end up shit, but u guys just appear to have such extreme standards that nothing fresh can get added to the game. Which brings me to my original point; new maps allow new players to jump into the game on even terms (on even terms with 13 year veterans that play bloodrun nonstop, new maps offset that imbalance, new players have a slightly bigger chance, more competition etc), its a really good thing to keep quake afloat.

What 'even terms' r u talking about? Getting used to a map, ANY map, comes with experience. It doesn't matter if u take new map or the old one and try to work out a strategy on it - u will succeed with your strategy based on your experience in QL, not on the map age. (look at CS or SC mappools - they're solid classics, with a few fresh maps thrown in and out here and there, but classics are ALWAYS there, because they've proved to be the best).

If a player has low elo/overall experience in QL - it doesn't matter what maps he chooses to learn, he will suffer a lot of rape against more experienced players.

If a player has improved his techniques/tactics considerably (watch recent fraze/seven/guard, etc) he will slice'n'dice on any map in the mappool, with (obviously) certain maps being favs and others being uncomfortable - but that's due to personal prefs, and NOT due to a map being old or new (like rafa embracing new hektik and somewhat disliking old ztn, or the opposite example - Cooller, loving old dm13 and not giving a single fuck about silence).

The latest example being Evil, who learned Silence so swiftly that he's dominating there alltimes already. Also mind the last Agent's game on sil against Killsen (feb 125fps groupstage) - Kolyan seemed to read the map like a beast. Should we consider silence to be an old map already (following your logic)?

But here comes you - telling us that new maps allow-blah-blah-blah, even if they suck a little bit-blah-blah-blah...

So, by your logic, to nullify the abilities of pro QL gladiators to learn maps fast and effectively we should change at least 50% of the mappool monthly to some new unknown maps - a very 'wise' vector of keeping QL afloat... Or maybe you should just think again.

ive thought about this plenty. the quake community is just really glued to their old ways. t9 was tried and tested and is gone, period. t4 can stay gone, dm6 has to go etcetc. a map pool that gets updated now n then in the right direction is miles and miles better than a map pool getting downgraded to old maps only.

nah dm6 is not a good enough map to be in any 5 map pool, and in reality shouldnt be put ahead of silence or even hektik imo, look at the renaissance duel pool, that was one of the worst map pools ive seen in some time and had all older maps, and it obviopusly favoured some players significantly (guard pavel perhaps and even evil mapwise although hed do well regardless) cause t7 was out silence was out and hektik was out, which no offence to those players but they are not their strongest maps. the best 7 map pool currently is ztn dm13 aerowalk t7 silence hektik and toxicity. Also just my 2c but the best map for quake live is t7.

Also let me note that it was almost universally hated when it was introduced, and people cried about it for months how bad this map is, and now almost everyone says it's a best map. Just something to keep in mind and not judge maps too soon.

Absolutely dreadful 2v2 pool. People really play only 4 maps in 2v2, and 2 of those (Almost Lost and Hidden Fortress) are not in the pool. Instead, there's The Edge, which in 2v2 is just awful. Whose idea was that?

it was played on some clanbase 2v2 cup long time ago, been played barely- yes, but the map was around for a long time and some of open minded ppl gave it a shot. i tried it: and i don't see anything superb about it tbh.

Above in the same thread: people saying they didn't see anything superb about Furious Heights.

It's hard to judge a map by how much it was picked in two drop-drop cups that used it long time ago.

And even now that pick-pick got popular, new maps are always hated and people who invest time to learn them get insulted. This says nothing about the maps.

devilish is a great 2v2 map, furious heights on the other hand isn't.

Change intervention (aint it too big :O) with devilish and you have a very decent mappool.

Intervention is great for 2v2, people need to try it. Not too big nah, probably same size as dm6.

is left behind that much played? i never play 2v2 so i have no idea, i guess ill go with that pool, although i would like the edge in, if left behind is a better map for it i'll go with it

it's not that it's better than the edge (cuz you really can't compare 2 maps properly), it's just edge is old and quite narrowed down in terms of playstyles imo and it was played at last russian lan and was kinda mediocre experience. left behind on another hand was never properly tested (mb only at russian pickups 4v4, but it was messy). it's just my personal opinion it would look great at 2v2, but i never saw it in action.

Everything is better than The Edge in 2v2. It has 620 hp + 300 armor. All the other other maps people have suggested here have around 500 total (Hidden Fortress is the exception, 640 total). So if you get control of weapons, you don't need to think about health at all.

Left Behind was designed for 2v2 and, on paper, has all attributes of a nice 2v2 map, it just needs a proper test with people actually trying to master it. Of course, this probably won't happen with 7 map pools and drop-drop. Kill Quake more, ins!
