the oculus rift, john carmack has a huge boner for it, seeing as how he had palmer send him one as soon as he heard about it, which is what got john to work on the doom 3 bfg edition for e3 last year
doom 4 is already slated to have rift support, so we know that id is going forward with this technology and will learn valuable lessons creating fast paced gameplay with virtual reality
they have already started talking about the possibilities for a quake 5 and have said they plan to return to the series some time after doom 4 is completed.
it seems to follow that if carmack is going to be a VR pioneer, he would clearly want to make an adaptation of their greatest series in VR.
so, what if "quake V" turns out to be "quake VR"?
the possibility of playing quake and feeling like i am actually IN the game gets me rock hard regardless of if it will actually happen or not.
you would presumably be able to strafe and rj without turning your actual view, since you could still control your weapon/crosshair with the mouse while you turned your head and looked elsewhere
