Cypher was looking good yesterday in the Saturday Derby... Didn't see the pings but think that might have something to do with it since it seemed very eatern block focussed. And what's up with evil? He's not winning everything like a while ago...

smt tells me he just got tired at the end of the day. his aim was pretty sick halfway into the tourney, just seemed that he didnt care as much in the later stages.

How come Roy doesn't understand that stream numbers grow on famous names, so why not stream some real deal all the time, like cooller-avek-evil-agent-cypher and a few more? There's always a game with a top player in it.

The usual faceit games up until quarters look like qlranks.tv 24/7 duels. We've come here to watch top guys for entertainment purposes, anyone else is streamed by qlranks endlessly and is not as entertaining as the top.

Roy says 'it's because we don't wanna see rapes 10-0, 20-0 of cooller vs unknown plaer', but in fact - many low-skill games are the same rapes, while watching top players is ALREADY entertaining in the first place, and keep in mind that random guys are constantly giving out good battles to champions recently.

This question is asked all the time; It isn't always that easy.

if you do that you'll always be stuck on the same names to get any viewer. If you show some 2000 elo, ppl can relate with his playstyle and maybe enjoy some of his hot stretches.

I guess the ideology is that you'll be able to see cooller sooner or later in quarters.
Low skill games have a lesser chance to end in 20:0.
This also gives an opportunity for lesser known players to prove themselves on stream.

I actually like what they are doing. I am learning to appreciate loads of players I never new they even existed, just based on the fact they show up on stream and get their moment of attention.

I think in the long run this is very beneficial to the community. Even if the top 8 are untouchables on LAN, the incentive for people to play and improve is going to help the creation of a proper distribution of players, which is something we should all value.

hey dude, very well played on stream. I knew your aim and dopey's and tought you couldn't stand a chance but you did outplayed him massivly on the items.
Sadly you +forwarded into his lg twice and it kinda threw away your good work... Once when you were up 2:0 just pushed towards YA with rail out (you could exploit your weapon advantage even if he took mega afterwards) and then you jumped stacked down the bridge directly at him (at least jump sideways). Nice try anyway.

Thanks. Gotta watch the demo. From what I remember, the main mistake I did was that I mistimed one of the last mega when we were 3 frag each. I ended up taking a bad position in the fight. Maybe that could have given me a bit more air to breath for the overtime.

In general, he is a better player, and he was outdamaging me most of the time. I'm happy it was q close game.

because we already get a fair amount of them in the later stage of the brackets, and i find it good to have new players or lower tiers fighting in the early stages, just to have everyone having something to enjoy and to fight for

Aim does matters a lot, as it's an fpS game, a shooter (if you still haven't noticed). But QL incorporates aim importance at 30-40% as opposed to mindgame, which is the dominant key to winning on high levels of Quake.

If u can only see aim in Evil's game - u r just waaaay too far from understanding the core tactical processing Evil AND Cooller overtake throughout their matchups.

Go run aimbot and try to take on any mid-skill player, just for an experiment (and have your ass handed to you by some decent tactics combine with quite mediocre aim).

Evil won most situations purely by aim, even those where Cooller caught him out or massively out positioned him. It's silly to say brain had anything to do with it when Cooller was doing far better in that regard.

It was for the most part, as strenx would say, "stupid situation where your opponent just hit everysing"

This is called 'nerves of stainless steel'. If you can keep calm and make sure you deal tons of damage to an opponent - do it. Watch Rapha's ESL classics dm6 analysis - he's uncovered the mindwork behind those 'all aim' situations (many times during the show he referred to cula's 'amazing rails' and insane rockets').

You cannot win a match 'purely by aim', although u HAVE to have a good aim to win. When Evil's winning a fight with inferior stack that doesn't mean he's 'all aim no brain', it means exactly the opposite - he KNOWS how to execute not only stack superiority, but also how to frustrate his opponent by unexpected attack (which is more like a game of nerves, rather than 'all aim').

Have you seen rail- or lg-heavy players being taken out by an outstanding reinforced nerve? Watch cula vs toxic oldskool bouts - you will see what I mean.

The thing about Evil is that not only he has both high-level mindgame and marksmanship, but also a nervous system of T-800 - steel'n'armor mostly, 'a machine underneath, but a sort of alive outside':).

The notorious 'your lg is nothink on the lan' dm6 (qcon04) and the following 'no brain only rail' toxic's victorious sarcasm towards cooller at eswc05, also on dm6.

Both games r showing the extremely effective mindwork, with aim-heavy tox having improved his positioning and nervous system a year after his loss to cooller on campgrounds:)

Tox makes fun of cooller's quotes about 'only rail', but you can really see how much more effectively johan executes his tactical plans, combined with excellent aim.

On the other hand - tox wanted revenge on dm6 so much (he even prepared some colorful text binds in case he wins), that he somewhat forgot to maintain his form on a few other important maps, like ztn for example (which is also rail-heavy, but requires a different set of tactics). Thus you can clearly follow the path of a top-aimer getting an upper hand on dm6 vs the one of the smartest gladiators out there, due to a very strong preparation, which resulted in confidence and vivid brainwork, but the very same insane aim didn't help him on other maps, where he hoped to rely on his aim for the most part, rather than combining it with a good tactical synapse.

I only watched dm6 since like 5 mins into the game or so. It was sad how cooller made the better plays but evil won out of nowhere like 20 times.

Yes, he was outpositioned and outstacked by cooller on most of these plays yet he managed to get the frag due to human aimbotting of his.
I really hope he doesn't keep dominating the quake scene for long because it's a disgusting playstyle in my opinion.

From what I recall, cooller kept on sticking around just 1 second too long in all of the LG fights.

i thought they were just rushing at each other and Evil's just better at it. Cooller didn't want to play defensive and +back against a stacked evil because he knew there's no coming back against him on DM6, or just CBA +backing

What made me cringe though, is the way he won a PARTICULAR game, namely the one on dm6 against Cooller yesterday.

When I said "Breaks my heart to see evil get to the final by sheer aim." I only meant the dm6 game against Cooller, not that Evil is a brainless player overall.

Evil is very good on tactic, but most top players are.
BUT his combat skills (as I wrote looong reply some months ago) is insane.
If you met him in a map with same stack or lower, you are 8/10 times dead. And position doesnt metter, he shots you from every angle (thats why he is way better aimer then strenx in general). AAAAnd if you manage to survive and kill him in these 2/10 times, he will comeback soon, becose he knows he left you with low hp after these fights..
Maybe evil could play slow game, try to outbrain everyone and +back, but he uses his best skills to win.
To beat such evil in bo5, you need rapha on form , or unraged cypher.

Browsers don't matter for me neither do other qualities and I'm the only one on my network and it's fast enough, it's twitch being unable to handle all the traffic.

Im not saying it will fix the problem for everyone, just another thing to try.

Pavel showed some crazy +b play against cypher, capitalizing on Cypher's passive decisions on ZTN, but you just can't do that against Evil.
I honestly have no idea how to counter his play. Evil snap decisions, reads, speed and execution are just mindblowing.
Sometimes he looks lucky to me, like when he steals or rush major items from the spawn and just collects them, but these "lucky" situations seem to go ALWAYS in his favor (over and over he stole Cooller's reds and Pavel's Megas), in my book that means it's not luck but they are very calculated attacks.

How can you beat that man? Perfect reads? Beating him at his own game? I don't know.

as guard already said: rapha in his best shape, unraged cypher, and maybe strenx in his prime shape.

I was looking for counterplays moreso than players.

Anyway i don't think Rapha in shape would win most of his matches against this guy, it's a matter of styles. I'll go further: Rapha always seems to have a very hard time against DaHang, even if results-wise he shouldn't be in the very best tier like Rapha is imho. What DaHang does very well it's pushing with the LG and moving fast around the map, pressuring every item and bullying you. Evil does that but hits considerably more.

I think that Cypher will always be prone to raging due to Evil's gamestyle and imho Evil's better when in control and in the openings (that's very crucial in the games). Winning a whole Bo5 "cyphering" (pulling clutch shots while severely outstacked) every map it's a very hard thing to do.

Strenx maybe, he's always been a nightmare for every heavy aimer because if you +f into him you'll just take 100% lg in your ass.. But Evil's game looks smarter to me.

i'd say Evil has clear advantage on ZTN while Strenx has it on hektik.. The other maps are just too hard to tell, depending on strenx's shape and the adjustements they would do to counter eachother.

The one and only reason Dahang troubles Rapha way more than stronger opponents is that Dahang is basically the only one player left in NA to practice with.

Hence, he knows Rapha better than ANYONE else, and maybe it somehow counts the fact they are both americans and they feel a stronger rivalry between them.

that's true but it's worth noticing what are the things he actually does ingame to trouble Raffer: things that Evil likes to do against everyone.
Anyway Raffer had hard times against him, since i can remember and it was Raffer himself on DHW who talked about some similarities between Evil's and DaHang's game

i think that only cooller and strenx can beat evil and maybe toxjq aswell.

cooller is one of the smartest duel player, and he has good combat skills, especially his dodges.

strenx got some monster overall aim, and is really hard to beat when in control.

toxjq got monster aim aswell, and has good dodging, when he's onfire he doesn't miss a single rail, even the harder ones, and his shaft and dodges are top notch.

k1llsen can beat evil too, but not everytime. I would say only sometimes. He got some monster rail aim and his positioning is always very good. On a lucky day he can beat anyone, like i said, especially because of his rail.

I love watching him play but he's just not the guy to beat evil, even with his robotic aim.

i don't know if cooller can consinstently beat him, expecially with his new sens: it looks like isn't easy for him to turn around quickly and evil is a master in exploiting fighting weaknesses. Anyway for sure you need a crazy good game incontrol and a great ability in playing the first minute or so of the game.

Every time a guy beats evil it's either him screwing it up (every now and then), or he didn't break up the control in the first stages of the game or someone beating him at his own game (hi guard @125fps March League)

i don't know, lately Av3k hasn't succeded much against heavy aimers with that tactic (even if he had a lot of close matches against Lucksen, but Evil plays better on the items)

If I recall correctly they played last week in the 125fps cup - Evil beat Av3k 2-1, but it was close. DM13 was Av3k's map - he played an exceptional out of control game off the start, made one mistake and was punished heavily, but pulled it back with an insane shotgun rush at mega + spawn frag to clinch it 5-4. I'd be very interested to see an in-shape Av3k playing Evil - he wouldn't make the little mistakes that Evil exploited in their games. And Av3k. like Rapha (and Pavel if Evil didn't read him like a book), is patient enough to play a very slow game and then suddenly turn on the aggression as soon as he has a small advantage.

What I didnt understand about the cooller vs evil game was that cooller let eveil dictate the game and never tried to slow it down. I mean evil never really bothered to even pick up rg as he knew cooller would fight for every item in close combat. Dunno why cooller never tried to get advantage with rg. Think faceit needs more k1llsen/strenx to tame the eastern aim beast :=)
