I was going to make a new thread but I might as well just ask here. It's time for a monitor change so naturally I am thinking xl2411t. The first issue is I have an ati card as well, so first of all how much more lag is there without lightboost and what's the cheapest nvidia card with lightboost? The other issue is I've seen some people say this monitor has 120hz and others say 144hz. Is it 144 and if it is, can I use it in desktop mode with an ati card for the time being?

xl2411t can work up to 144Hz (from its spec ds): you can use it in desktop mode with ati @144Hz without any problem.
iirc, lightboost trick (blurbusters.com) was working @120Hz, it depends on how you modify the driver.

dunno about lightboost with ati, only info i have about that is here.

When you say pushed, do you mean it can be overclocked to 144?

LightBoost is hardware-limited to refresh rates between 100Hz and 120Hz.
For 144 Hz, LightBoost is turned off (automatically). Fortunately, there’s far less motion blur with 120 Hz LightBoost than with 144 Hz non-LightBoost.

i suggest you to read it all, it's quite interesting.

You can set easily at windows 144hz but dunno why benq or asus don't ads this feature. Lightboost works only at 100-120hz.

There are already several threads about xl2411t, analogues and even lightboost. There is no additional input lag if lightboost(3d mode) is OFF. Сonversely lightboost can add some input lag but most people dont notice it. In 3-4 weeks at http://3dvision-blog.com/ will be results of lightboost input lag measurements of several monitors. About nvidia cards on nvidia site click on image with text "geforce graphics processors". xl2411t supports 144hz. There are also another monitors that support 144hz. I've skimmed through the threads and all the terms are so confusing I am postponing reading them until I actually have an nvidia card. On nvidia's site the column "NVIDIA 3D LightBoost
Technology" only exists on the monitor section. Does this mean that all nvidia cards have 3d lightboost?

afaik Nzr0 plays cpma and dont need so decent nvidia card as 680 model )

Yeah, I don't need anything fancy. Just something that will keep stable 125 in ql on 1920x1080. Is the gtx260 good enough for that?

gtx260 is 5 year old model. from current selling guess gtx650 or gtx550ti will be around 100$

That is most likely the problem. Connect it via DVI and it should work.

I do remember that the Viewsonic VX2268wm worked at 120hz via D-sub but only on lower resolutions. So you could try that if you can't wait until your new card arrives.

ok, i've tryed to lower the resolution to 1024x 768 and the screen allows me to put 120 hz . What about 144? is that achievable just with hdmi or dvi ? Because even with 800 x 600 i can't put 144 hz

Just use DVI with DVI cable(it's Dual-link DVI cable) that comes with monitor. Videocard has also support "Dual-link DVI" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_Visual_...l-link_DVI and you will get 120/144hz

also, i suggest you to either go for 120Hz+lightboost or "plain" 144Hz (don't forget to turn "instant mode" on).

as mdrejhon suggests in lots of his spots posts, lightboost could either improve or not your gaming experience.
