are there no leagues like clanbase or something similiar where you can play quake live? since its a pretty competitive game, i feel like its pretty hard to scrim in it properly, or i didnt find out how to yet. are the irc channels the only way ?

You're always welcome at TDM pickup - there's games going all the damn time, even two or three pickups at the same time at peak hours. They even have their own ranking site..

There's clanbase Nations Cup and Euro Cup, faceit hosted a two TDM events a week ago (and will probably host another one next week!) - there's also tdm draft tournaments.

Basically TDM is doing ok right now, it's just that people don't like to play on public servers.

oh that sounds great, but as i said im really new to playing quake, can you explain me how exactly the tdm pickup works ? do i need to buy premium for that ?

oh and if noone minds id also like to ask if its worth to play on 5:4 (Monitor setting) since mine can do that, i see alot of pro players have done it in the videos ive seen, does it give you an advantage ?

Having premium greatly helps. Otherwise you need to beg for invitations before adding to games.

I see you have Pro, so if you want to join with your friend who is standard and you're going to invite him - that's fine :)


5:4 would be a disadvantage. You've seen players on 4:3 which is a bit wider. Choice between 4:3 and 16:10 is down to personal preference, many players are just used to 4:3 after years of using that.

It's just that in Quake, it's most important to be comfortable when playing, there's no secret property of 4:3 aspect ratio that makes you a pro overnight :)

Is your monitor actually 5:4? That would mean it's probably bad for many other reasons and not the AR itself.

Hookinsu, before you say that's 4v4-only, let me mention that it's the de-facto central channel for QL TDM and you can find 2v2 opponents there as well, just depends how bad you really are.
