In theory there is no limit to the Elo number, however there are several things to consider: you must beat a player within a certian threshold for a victory to give you any point increase. Also, chess elo only takes into account official matches afaik, while QLranks takes into account all games, including practice games, where top players may not necessarily play to win, but rather try out new shit. Plus, quakers have periods of inactivity after which their skill and consequently their Elo is probably much more affected than a chess player taking the same period of inactivity.

Well what would most likely happen is something called Elo inflation, making it somewhat difficult to compare the Elo ratings. This brings us to the question - why should we care about the Elo rating if it's just an arbitrary rating system when we already have what truly matters - tournament results.

I don't think Cooller has not won a single big event since 2005 when the best players were in attendence. The biggest thing he won was IEM Europe in quakelive and only then cos Rapha was not there.

And Rapha won the finals. If cooller was the most consistent his earnings would show this.

lol. thresh is the michael jordan of fps. the guy invented the strategies everybody else capitalizes on, before guides and demos and everything else. he conquered fps when it was open territory. he's a pioneer, and the only thing silencing his amazing contributions to quake as a sport is gamers' short attention spans.

Rapha would probably reached the highest elo of all during the year he was winning all tournaments (2009/2010, was it?). Not only was he on top of his game and won every major lan, but he also always plays extremely focussed in practise games and takes them very serious.

But he would have had to compete with k1llsen raping everyone 24/7 and farming elo in the process
