It is funny you brought up pqo, because i raped him many times, than all of a sudden in one game he started to hit every rail, according to him he changed his sensitivity :). I also 20-0d his friend many times than the next game he started to predict me extremely well, and we played some very close games. When I asked him, how it is possible he loses 20-0 most of the times, than he puts up a really close game he said: "secret" :)

I think most people only cheats on and off, when they get frustatrated and not all the time. It is really hard to prove cheating this way. I also don't think it is worth the time to gather evidence if its happened outside of a competition or in case of low skilled players. My advice is if you have a strong feeling someone cheats, just put them on ignore and don't play against them next time.

Ugh, yeah, predicting someone on ztn is no proof of anything. I got called a waller once by this german dude because I was "predicting him too well". Looking at his ELO now it's higher than mine. But the guy was clueless nevertheless. Also 37% lg is meaningless as well. I would consider reluctance to share his demos a bigger proof of cheating than what you've stated, but you didn't even bother to ask him, did you?

And still I would not expect an esr member to use 37% lg as an argument for someone cheating. The majority of players here can hit that in normal situations. Hitting those percentages in battles that noone would use an LG is a different story tho.

I played him a few times and thought something was up, but I don't have anything to prove it one way or another.

Played a player two days or so ago that I have beaten several times and out of nowhere two games in a row he starts hitting 80+ rail and hitting perfect predict rockets. It's one thing to have a bad day, it's another when you play a guy you know you've beaten plenty of times and their accuracy is double what it normally is on their best days.

It's an online, competitive, subscriber based game. There are going to be hackers. My issue is how severe it is. These top tier pro's that keep getting caught online apparently use WH so much that they forget the walls are even there! Nailing Rocket after Rail into walls...but would have made a dead on hit if there wasnt a massive obstruction in the way. How do they even LAN?!

The other absurd thing, is that WH is WAY easier to catch than an aimbot. As we have already seen, the hacker has a tendency to start pre-aiming his target...or forgetting altogether that there is even an obstruction in the way making the area unviewable, let alone attackable. Mostly people are getting caught on WH rather than botting...which is pretty much impossible. I mean, you can point at a 91 percent accuracy (ZeroQL), but can't really prove anything. A crosshair tracking a guy through walls proves much though.

This is what happens to every game before it dies. QW, when it got down to the last in the states, you would join a clan only to confuse your teammates when they figured out you weren't walling. They would then explain to you how to do it, and didn't understand that you already understand that walling exists...you just don't cheat. Q3/RA3 turned the same way when it started to die. Everyone just assumes everyone else cheats and the game is lawless, therefore cheating is ok. 'Walling' is OK cause everyone does it, but botting is BS! This is a stupid hair to split, and killed every community because newbies were not only at the disadvantage of a steep learning curve, but a very real handicap as well even if other players weren't botting. Non-botting WH'ers view themselves as 'legit' btw. So no new people came in, no one grew in experience, game died out because people got tired of the whole cheap charade.

People say punkbuster doesn't work, but some moronic scrub can't go obtain a hook and expect it to work. If the moronic scrub found it, then QL and PB have already found it. So it removes that factor from the game. As far as high tier play, high tier admins in diff leagues/ladders review the stuff and pick out the blatant abuses. Sooner or later, a hacker gets so comfortable that he trips up, just because it's so natural for him to look through walls or toggle when he's in a bind. It's a good system. Bring back PB and CSI:QL and everyone else policing stuff keep doing what you are doing.

PB never worked to begin with. It mostly kicked innocent players and caused latency issues with others.

it works best with personal servers when you can add your own cvar and md5 checks using community sites like pbbans/psb and stream for liinked banning. Best was always the pbscreenshot to see what the player does. Latency issues for those who didnt know how to allow ports or update pb were worth it :)

The only real solution will be to drop the free to play bullshit. The reason why we dont have an anticheat yet, because it is inexpensive and ineffective.

Make only 1 map / gametype f2p, to give a taste to people, than make every other map premium. At this point im convinced many players would happily pay the yearly $25 knowing that they dont have to deal with cheaters (at least ones that blatantly cheat). In the meantime a good amount of money would flow in for id, maybe for first in its lifetime the game would show some profit.

There were several hooks that were very easy to get when PB was still up. Anti-cheat only works when it's any good, and PB was never good.

I dunno if you are talking about Q3 or QL, but PB was updated all the time in the Q3 days until iD dropped it. PB then continued to exist and function, but of course was no longer updated and did not detect new hooks. There was a while in Q3 where OGC updates were being released multiple times a day to circumvent PB...and PB was updating just as often to block those hooks. PB worked just fine.

please name a period of time this ever happened. it sure as shit never worked (except for hacks 15 years old) in CS.
