You have to get GOD OF WAR SANCHEZ blessing before doing anything with quake 4.

Yes, q4 is essentially running in pure mode assuming you have set demo_enforcefs to anything other than 0. If you set it to 0 it will work, so long as you:
- have all the pk4s (and no more) as used to record the demo - other pk4s may cause it to crash or spawn incorrect entities etc
- if the demo is in an addon.conf enabled pk4 you may need to spawn a server on that map prior to starting demo playback to get it to load the map
