Our sixthSpring Season Cup last week had p0ni winning the grand final rather easily versus pavel, ending it with a 3-0 score. P0ni takes his second win in the Spring Season.

This cup will be followed by the FACEIT Quake Live North America Spring Cup #4. Last week was again won by DaHanG for the third time. Rapha came rather close though, but ended up losing 3-2 in the final. You can already sign up for the fourth installment. It will start at 12:00 CST, with check-ins going open at 11:00 CST
this phrase "last week had p0ni winning the grand final rather easily versus pavel" is a little bit an overstatement. As far as I remember, in 2 maps out of 3 pavel performed pretty equally vs p0ni and could pretty likely win if it were not for his overly high ping under which he couldn't hit good in close combat while p0ni was as always all ears and sound cues
Even a single incomprehensible mumbling sound by Cooller contains 1000 times more insight about dueling as all caster masterminds combined together. Cooller FTW, best caster ever! And also good at selling cars too!
guard kept chasing so hardcore after around the 7 minute mark. (it was like 7 to 9 or something?!) he could have slowed it down a bit, gotten a ya and then attack again. plus forward ftw :x
heh, I am in new living place, new table, new chair and new internet, so in all 10 min game I watched to clock just few times, I played +forward all match :) it was 2nd duel here. I will do better tommorow I hope!
True and false at the same time. The language barrier doesn't let him to give a 'proper' insight, if you will. Most of the time he just talks very basic things, also consider it's during the game while being live streamed.
Cooller in one fart sound expressed more wisdom than famous Greek philosophers couldn't express in hundreds of books. Even the modest vocabulary he has is already overkill with his capability. Thousands of years will pass and people will still gain new insight from the VOD of this cup.
there is bester soluten 4 u : kill the pig on the bakyard ur vilaj hous, sell the SALO to 1st men on the stret, buy new CPU ! threw ur pentium2 MMX with RivaTNT in window its old shet dinosor!
Shot animation and sound are client side aswell and didnt appear. Like when you sometimes fire a rail shortly before dying and don't manage to get it off but still hear the sound. Really weird-ass stuff.
Notice, my dear younglings - Ash got to the finals with ping 70 and Agent with 80. Watch and learn, my whiny younglings, watch and learn - the aces are going to show you how it's done properly and cold blooded. No bullshit, all skill.
And Roy, please add Ivan Govno together with Dan Moroz in the next harosh top 5, pretty please!:))) It's gonna be a bomb, especially among russian community!
seriously roy: is the faceit song on the loop some kind of punishment? cause i'm starting to feel like you guys don't like us and want us to go fuck ourselves.
More like mundane. Russia has the most first place contenders(evil, cooller, pavel, agent). Any other country besides Poland gets just the one, if they're lucky.
I think I missed context of the post you replied to but meant that there are several people in Sweden or US who could be number one on any given Sunday (given fair ping).
At this moment I don't think Sweden has any first place contenders, atleast I don't remember any swede winning any sunday cup lately. And even if you include USA I wouldn't call dahang and rapha "several people".
Roy, my man, could you please run some Q3/QL movies instead of looping facey? We love Facey song, but you run it so often that we might as well start hating it.
Anyway - Q3/QL movies are not a copyrighted material and an awesome relaxing way of building up a hype for the next match in the bracket.
If you sometimes will show some topnotch oldskool stuff (like Lexer's Ownage or this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C2TPbn8AePo pure awesomeness) you'll please all of the aging Quakers (the majority of Quake community) and also show the newcomers what a brilliant history Quake has.
You also don't have to stick to the full movie lengths (in case a match starts earlier than a movie finishes), just pause and continue with stream - that way we will be looking forward to the breaks inbetween matches with good feelings instead of 'facey song? not again...' kind of mood. You get my drift?
ofc, but you still have a lot of gaps between matches, even with your pretty damn good production (like HAROSH top5) it's still tons of time to fill with smth really good. Like oldskool Quake flicks, for instance:). And the hypno facey vid, once in a cup, at the beginning maybe.
That way your song still hits the air, but other than that - Quakers will be thankful for the vids which proved to be the essence of the game.
You do realize that people love faceit (among other things) for the rich contents you provide in all areas you touch, and the suggestion I made might just add a few treasure chests to your riches;)).
Glad you will consider on this matter, Roy. Your team are the heros of the Arenas. Contact Vadrigar for cooperation, maybe?:)
I love Cooller but unfortunately he might aswell be typing smilies to the chat and contribute more to the cast than he is currently. I understand it's really nice to have old school players like Cooller to cast these games and hang around but really you should limit these guests to people who can speak english properly. You should hire rapha for life!
I don't mind him but if you're trying to get new vieweres to enjoy these games it's not gonna work out.
I also don't know how to spell his nose whistling, but it was quite an epic stuff for the first couple of hours of EU cup. This magic still lives on in our ears and faceit vods.
I LOVED the show. anyone with expectations for pro cooller casting should seriously remove that nail from their forehead. he was funny, had OPINIONS, was right most of the time providing some interesting info and DDK did the rest. what more would you want? just let go of a slightly broken english and listen to the man. at times I was laughing so hard I nearly lost it. gg facey, wp cooller http://imgur.com/KZo8ZN2

oh i agree. He was the best faceit experience for me so far. Loved the games and the casting. The funny bits were hilarious aswell, even moreso that I watched this with a friend so we both had a great time. THANK YOU COOLLER!
Thanks to Faceit Crew yet again, Dan, Anton and Alessandro for the casting,
Big Props to Cooller for accepting to cast!
you cupid stunts on chat should try talking a language you're not nearly fluent in for 10 hours and let us all make fun of you.
and that mmmmmmm is just a pause cause when you speak to someone a language you don't completely understand you need some time to translate it to yourself, dumbasses
and i agree with Super_Koziol he gave some great insights and info and also what he would do in some situations, for me that is G-fucking-G
+
Great actions today and some really sick frags, please for the next top 5 or more, FIX THE SYNC it really ruins watching great moves!
There won't be another faceit sunday cup getting casted like this, coolleR made my day complete. I actually took time to watch from quarter till finals, usually I can watch 1-2 duels before getting bored.
Thanks faceit, ID software, coolleR.
Probably the best FaceIt ever! (except maybe when cooller won))). DDK really cracks me up, not necessarily when he's trying to make an obvious joke between matches but rather some of the easy-to-miss, subtle and inane comments he strings his running commentary together with. I rofl'd hard several times.
I know what you mean with subtle ddk jokes. I was watching the chat and most of the delicate ddk jabs just fly over people's head like nobody's bussiness, but if you get it it's loltastic.

Cooller tried very hard for you guys, he just did not have enough practice speaking. Personally, I was really (pleasantly) surprised to see him in the studio.
Seriously, I can't hear that moronic whine about cooller's English anymore. He's always been doing good enough for all practical purposes, providing some legendary quotes on the way. And has even improved.
Doing that kind of a full work day show while always needing an extra concentration effort to find the right words - that's a cool move. That's doing something for the game.
Best casting ever ! pfffft brrrrr gaaaaauuuuu wooooouuuuu that make my day happy. Great job, usually i try to watch just a semis/finals but with Cooler onboard i wasnt getting bored almost the whole day with a stream alt-tabed from the 1/64 round. All the sounds Cooler created > hilarous and soooooooo entertaining!
That was a dumb question from ddk. Why would he like it? It was an obvious mistake from DaHang. The move could have been good, stealing the mega and giving a frag away: it can work out. But giving a frag away and giving the mega away: huge mistake.
We have different definitions of comedic gold then. For me, it's just stating the obvious to a stupid question. Comedic gold was Zero5. Now, that was an actual joke, and quite good one after 7 hours of casting. :P
Just want to say that what occurred was of course terrible, but it was only one possible outcome. When you're playing you have to weigh up risk and reward, it's possible the reward could justify the risk and that risk was really what I was calling into question, is it justifiable? I'm not trying to defend myself, as I'm aware my commentary is riddled with mistakes, but I want to try spark conversation about decision making in anyway I can when I'm with smart players, sometimes I'm better at it than others for sure. But equally I'm glad that people can be entertained in any way however =).
Well, that is true, but for me, it looked like a simple mistime from DaHang. He went 3 seconds early to the mega without anything. There was no chance he could stay alive until the mega spawns, as rapha was right there with shaft in hand.
Anyway, I'm 100% satisfied with your commentary, just didn't find anything funny about Cooller's response to that particular question. It seemed to me an obvious answer. I would have said the same thing.
Really appreciated the show.
Of course it was nothing like as usual, especially in terms of casting (no need to underline this seeing the comments above), but having cooller was thrilling fun.
Having a non fluent caster is a bit dodgy, but you can get away with it if it's cooller.
Amazing to see the harosh aura around him, banter in chat was nice :)
Just a thought around the format though.
You guys can't just keep saying ddk is tired, or the guest is tired etc.
You are trying hard to come up with a show as pro as possible, and usually do well, but 8 hours casting is too long, period.
I'm not sure anyone can keep up during so long.
You need to figure out something, like have the NA cup start earlier so finals come earlier (and no RO32/16/8 casts for example), but dunno if possible due to timezones.
Or have someone else cast NA RO32/16/8 so ddk can cool down (brrrr pffrrrt no pun intended), and be on better shape for finals.
And if the casting is less on par during the early rounds, it doesn't really matter as matches aren't that important/interesting, but having the casters exhausted during finals does.
I know you are trying to bring the most content possible, and it's really appreciated, but by doing that you are lowering the overall show quality, not sure it's the way to go.
what was so fucking awesome about this cast? i mean, cooller is hilarious with his russian-engrish accent, esr kids love him but...e.g.: even amateurs knows that when you're not in control you need to slow the game down, pick up a few ya, and then try to attack/steal some important item. cast in general was ok, but some (many) of you are taking this waaaaay to srs.
because a pro usually focusses on the essentials.
and while i agree that coollers commentary was very stripped-down, he often added subtle hints for more complex solutions.
I already knew cooller is an awful caster, but faceit is perfect for him to come. What should have been done though is having three casters at the same time: ddk with the play by play, stermy with the insightful comments, stories and helping ddk carrying on the show (the latter is what makes stermy one of the best faceit guests), and cooller as third caster, the one that does the funny one liners once a match and gets interviewed when there's nothing to show....like a guest.
Plus, hopefully they did a faceit profile with cooller. DID THEY?
A good guest for the second caster role would be avek, since viewers like him and happens to be an awesome caster (for some odd reason). Another possibility is bringing in some old school player that hasn't played in years, like boomsi, because they have a different perspective therefore are a true addition, like when zamuz came back or tosspots casts quake. Problem is contacting someone like that and that is in europe, as close as Milan as possible, but stermy happens to know every single fps player that attended an international lan.
ddk with cooller was 9 mins of ddk casting alone and when he asked cooller to say something he thought what to say for 10 seconds, said "pffffff" and ddk continued talking. Yesterday there was no second caster until stermy saved the day.
It was kind of funny at the beginning and at the end, though wouldn't be for 10 hours straight. It was reaching a point in which cooller's attitude was disrespectful to ddk, mainly because he acted like he didn't care about casting (did he ever had the initiative to say something on his own, without getting asked to?).
it's all so simple for you, isn't it? cooller in the faceit studio (and we knew exactly what to expect from his cast, didn't we?) and ddk doing a good job - not enough. let's get a 3rd person. stermy doesn't look like he has any shit to do, he can do it, right? let's be realistic in our expectations. you may have not liked cooller's input and it's fine. but let's not criticise faceit for not fulfilling unrealistic demands. we good?

#269 and #275 are not criticism of yesterday's faceit nor a demand for future cups. What I'm saying is all three were at the studio at the same time, so it was a good opportunity..
Same situation happens all the time on casted lans: on a 2-man casting team it's better to bring in three mics than two.
Are there any youtube vods coming up? The twitch stuff seems to be a recording of the original 720p+ stream, which is hefty, plus it can't be downloaded. Just like to keep this show for my personal archives.
Would still welcome other resolution options (and accordingly smaller file sizes) though. Don't really need this in HD, 480p would be perfectly sufficient. Especially, given the many hours of the show, the twitch recording should be about 10 GB, which I consider a huge download.
Edit:
Ok, for those interested, I found an easier way to download from twitch. Fairly simple, really.
And that one can be downloaded in whichever preferred way (like with wget, for linux users like me).
Edit #2:
Sorry guys, doesn't work as announced. The video above for example, which should be multiple hours long, is cut short to 1800 secs = 30 minutes. Don't know what's broken there, will look a little further into it. But right now, it looks like what I said above is not the way to go.
Yes, all streams are divided in 30 mins fragments. You have to start loading the part you want and use FVD Video Downloader for chrome to get that loading 30 mins part. boring + slow download as it's twitch.
Why not using youtube or dailymotion for livestreaming purposes?
And as I already said, getting them all will result in a > 10GB download, which I consider a total mess. Again, this is part of the cost of low picmip. Higher picmip would have almost halfed that size.
I'll do this only once, that I know for sure. And only because cooller is in this.
Edit:
By the way, if anybody wonders why I'm going to those lengths - I want to download the videos on my 24/7 linux server with wget, applying some download rate limiting at the same time so it doesn't use the whole pipe. This way, the download is running all day and night without me really noticing or me needing to keep my desktop machine running.
the reason is ... .flv needs to scan the index of the file before to do timeshift.
could take up to 1min on a ~600mb file
with a .mp4 file i can timeshift in notime
and the file sizes download with jDownloader would not copy to a vfat format on my USB3.0 Drive
