It is weird that on every streamed match there are 10 russians on the server, or at least unfair for people watching it on streams.

There should be a rule about that. only players, cup organizers and streamers allowed on the server, no one else.

You're mixing concepts. A player not wishing to be spectated isn't the same as a player not wishing to be streamed. In other words, spectators and streamers are two completely different things.

I'm not sure what the 125 FPS rules are, but spectators should leave when requested, but a player should have no decision over who can stream and who cant, that's the admins decision entirely.

You are missing my concept. Players come first. Streamers should not stream if players don't wish them to stream their game, unless 125FPS rules says otherwise. Players must agree, during sign-up phase, that they can't say no to a streamer speccing.

Now, if 125FPS cup has a rule that says something like "streamers may specc, no matter what", then Guard did wrong. If not, then the streamers did wrong.

EDIT: Usually there is a rule that says something like "Admin's words is law" (this is so obvious it doesn't really have to be stated in some rules). If 125FPS cup has one of these, then all this drama could just be "forced" to stop from an admin's decision.

But this is a cup where some ppl have donated money, so there should atleast be a stream. I understand Guards frustration and paranoia because mates of Cooller is streaming, but theres really no good way to avoid this when they were announced as official streamers before the game started. Even a stream delay isnt enough cause as Guard says they could still be on voicecom. Jetro's suggestion about /speclock isnt a bad idea, but then again some would suspect ppl who use it to be cheating themselves :-)

Guards own suggestion with only one streamer only following Coollers pov would allso kill some of game for the viewers but might be the only way to remove the paranoia :-)

Tbh this should be a non issue. I think at this point no player has the right to say no to a streamer. People should be allowed to watch the games. In any case the streams can be delayed anyways. Just make it like 30 seconds behind the real action. The only person/s that are allowed in the server then would be the admin/s and the streamers/casters and that's it. Any other players can suck it up and just watch on the stream. People just need to stop giving out the passwords to people that don't matter on the server.

You see rapha, I can be on stream with 5 min delay, everyone will hear what I talk, commentating, but player can be on same chan as streamers (so player will hear with no 5min delay) and quotes in a game like "oh guard sneeking near mega, it should spawn soon" , "guard goes on defence and +backing near teleport, should cooller guess where he is?" , it's just examples, it doesn't sound like a help for player, but it's a good tips for skilled player.

Not really, there is always one main stream which is, I guess, trustworthy.
And there are many language specific streams, if anyone lags/etc/etc. they quit and usually start streaming the main stream, this way they can't cheat and are able to cast.

Agent/ash were official streamers? OK, but before they were part of the crowd of russian specs in every online tourney. Leaking passwords, chatting, and through their presence raising suspicions of skype cheating. So it's understandable that Guard didn't want them there, and in the future I hope TOs keep non-streaming specs off the servers.

As already mentioned. Admins need to keep random specs out of these matches. Should only be the players, streamers and admins.

Additionally if this really is such a big problem (which i don't think it is..) then the admins should be in the streamer's skype/vent/mumble as well.

Maybe his timing was a bit odd waiting to do so at the 5th map, he still has a valid point that should be looked at. As much as you can complain about his behaviour why not look at the mistakes made by letting anyone and everyone onto official match servers for tournaments. Especially those with money on the line.

I watched the whole vod on the drama and the match right till the end and i watched the stream of players who had joined the server at the end on the scoreboard. No offense but that was very poorly handled and when a player has an issue you need to try and reduce the tension by trying to make the players feel as comfortable as possible esp when there is money on the line.

I think Guard had a reasonable request to have all spectators who were not streaming to leave and that did not even occur. As for the Russian stream with Agent and Ash possibly being on Skype with Cooller I think that issue was solved by having an admin watch the stream to ensure they were not giving Cooller the location of Gaurd.

As for the twenty minutes of drama on the server where both players and streamers and spectators were involved. That could have been avoided by speaking to an admin directly on IRC or Skype.

I will admit that the drama was a good draw for the viewers but these events are not about the viewers they are about the players and the game so next time players need to deal with admins directly. Hope the lessons are all learned here and we continue to keep having fun!

I hope that this little "event" will spark more rule enforcement on upcoming tournaments.Its simple logic, just spawn invite only/pw protected servers and let only admins/streamers and the actual players on. If the random spectators want to watch the game, they can watch the stream/s or if theyre really keen on watching in their CFG they can get the Demo's afterwards. And tbh if someones internet is not good enough for a 360p stream, whether it be 0 picmip or 10 picm, they have no place in quake with that connection and its their problem. They still have the ability to watch the vods afterwards.

EDIT: Also Zoot kinda ruined the drama with his constant switching from quake to his cam. Next time let us enjoy the action, not ur face.

Yes. And maybe they should consider introducing a "neutral casters only" rule. So no clan mates, long time friends and relatives casting. Having a spectator helping a player could be just as effective as item timers and wall/esp hack.
We can't know if anyone did that so far, but it is definitely possible.
Also: the Russian players in question are not renowned for being the most trustworthy and most sportsmanlike players.

If you think that this is about accusing someone, then you are clearly mistaken. Generally speaking it's simply about removing a possibility to cheat.

Regarding the situation at hand:
Coollers behaviour was very unsportsmanlike and doesn't reflect well on his character.
In fact his behaviour even justified Guards concerns. If I was in this situation and someone even remotely implied that I use spectators to gain an unfair advantage, I would immediately ask all spectators to leave in order to render any accusation pointless.
Cooller on the other hand behaved as if it was very important to him, that the spectators were there. Obviously that doesn't prove anything, but you will have to agree that this is far from ideal.

There are cheaters, cheaters and cheaters.
Regular cheaters are ppl who cheat if they feel they won't get caught. From my experience large part of population are regular cheaters.

Bad regular cheaters are the same ppl with skewed security sense so they take big risks and get caught eventually (I'd put cautious wh/bot users here)

Rest are ppl with different mental problems and dunno much about them.

On one side I can respect that the streamers that, by default, are official, and thus should be allowed to be on the server to do their job. This is both to ensure live gameplay action to the donators and general population of viewers that expect quality for their hard earned money that they put forth to help strengthen the game and community. As such Guard were not in his right to do anything but suck it up and dealwithit.gif.

After this, it gets more complex, although stays obvious in my opinion. If a player has issues with a streamer, suspecting foul-play between him/them and the player he is currently duelling, it should be taken very seriously - on both sides - especially considering that Agent and Ash are prominent duellers themselves and in many cases are players that Guard could end up playing himself. (This last part is somewhat irrelevant though, so disregard this in the general point.)
This gets even more obvious when the argument is that the donators want quality. If they want quality and there is a genuine suspicion by a player, isn't it borderline obscenity to allow the game to continue with said streamers, while instead you could do just like Guard proposed in the end, aside from escorting both streamers off server: One streamer stay, on coollers POV only, to discard any immediate possibility of a 'cheating' player winning donators money.
And 1+ minute(s) of delay on other streams to be enforced so the possible foul play could not continue by just looking on different streams.

The third part is perhaps the fact that Cooller would not need any help in beating Guard, and the other way around obviously. They're both on par with eachother, where Cooller probably reigns supreme in most cases.

But yeah, like I said, I'm split on this. Really, I am.

Why dont admins just spawn the servers where a player wants it, make it password protected / invite only. And invite the player who is gonna play and the casters.

That way admins have rights to kick the unwanted people...? If those people were to join by some miracle, just kick them!

It's apparently much harder than it seems.

Servers are password protected. What happens is players and mexicanins leak the password, always to a bunch of russians which are never kicked out.

Can I just ask why was it necessary for Cooller's brother to get involved in this? Couldn't Cooller have spoken for himself?
