Could easily have a ladder with filters for map or whatever.
About the day form, well don't play for the ladder if ur not feeling well.
And every player should know how to play off any initial spawn if he wants to ever go competitive at the game.

day form works in both ways, even if u play normally, but your opponent has good day, you're fucked

and even if u know how to play with bad spawns, theres no 100% guarantee you will win the map

It is not perfect since it isn't used for matchmaking and there's the issue of global rankings (can sort ladders by region though), but it's pretty much accurate and very useful for finding duels.

If you're not afraid of IRC, just join #qlranks on QuakeNet. You can use !findelo 1500 or whatever your Elo rating is and it will find you people with close rating that are waiting on QL servers for you to join them.

QLranks system can be a bit flawed though can't it? You can have 2 players that are 2000~ elo.

1 of whom play lesser players and gets +2 +2 +2 +2, and then you have another player who only plays player who have 2300~ elo or something like that, and maybe wins 2-3 out of I don't even know how many, but in the end, that player will gain, and not lose elo points.

that's what the TS% is for, player 1 will be on a high TS%, while player 2 will be on 0%

But on the other hand, and more realistically, that factor is in the mix, as soon as player 1 loses just one game to the people who he wins +2 from, he'll immediatly lose -30
