I just finished editing an article about a different way of approaching practice for duel in Quake live. The article targets mid-tier players (1400-1700 elo) but better players are welcome to give feedback.
As mid-tier player, what you probably have done, over the past months, was to play some games, possibly watch the demos of these, and eventually try to improve things like your aim and timing. The question however is, how much did you improve?
This post is about a different way of training and playing Quake Live duel. I found out about it relatively recently, and after testing it a couple of times, I decided to write about it. This may sound obvious to some players, but as it was not for me, it may help others as well.
If you are worried about a nerdy theoretical essay, don't be. The proposed method is simple, and does not take away from the fun of playing the game. Quite the opposite, if you ask me. My personal opinion is that it will make you improve faster, getting out the frustrating local minima where improvement seem hard to reach.
