I think it used to be cg_notaunts. They change the cvars so much I just lose track. Just making sure that shit is disabled >:O

Not really, it doesn't make sense given what the op reported as these values are default. Bad Lorfa.

If s_mixahead is too low the sound will crackle and eventually not play at all. If too high I think it gets delayed and starts repeating and finally doesn't play at all.

With s_mixPrestep, going too low causes sounds to get cut off, eventually resulting in no sound. I don't remember what happens if it is too high, probably also just has sound cut out.

Neither cvar has anything to do with directionality.

s_volume 0.05 cant stand to hear the sound models make when they land on equal or lower ground

You should try s_volume 0. I use it and I can barely hear those sounds at all
