- check if your ingame really has 120 Hz
- check if your drivers are up to date + don't have any weird settings (vertical sync comes to mind)
- check your cfg for shit (backup cfg, remove autoexec, click reset all settings on ql homepage, start up game how it runs in default settings, check cfg line by line for stuff you don't know what it does, exec config again)

You may have your hardware setup differently on your Desktop than from your netbook.

If you have an nvidia gpu, try the following settings in the nvidia control panel for firefox or quakelive if using QLPrism:

Maximum pre-rendered frames: 1
Triple buffering: Off
Vertical Sync: Off

Make sure that in your QL config you have vertical sync turned off too and your r_displayrefresh set to 120 and max fps to 125.

You don't say what 120hz monitor you are using, but hopefully it isn't one with terrible input lag. Whatever model it is however it will probably have some "Overdrive" settings. Go to the settings on your monitor and set overdrive to: "Off".

It is also important to remove the 3D Drivers from your nvidia setup - unless you need it for 3D stuff that is. They cause a bit of lag. Google this to find out how to uninstall these, and when you update the drivers in the future make sure you remove the 3D driver options everytime.

You say you have changed your ingame resolution. Make sure this is the same as the default monitor resolution. Most monitors only work at their best when set to their default resolution.

Sometimes windows has the system timer resolution set very high like 10,000. Google something like "change system timer resolution" and you should be able to figure out how to change this. I use a little tool which sets it to 500, but 1,000 is fine for gaming.

Also I find that setting QL to run in high priority mode makes it much more responsive and snappy. QLPrism lets you set that by default, but if using firefox, just open task manager when running QL and right click on the Firefox process and select change Priority and set it to High.

Make sure your mouse and keyboard are all set up correctly. Especially your mouse. Make sure it is set at 500hz or 1khz refresh rate if the mouse supports it.

Also if the game still feels sluggish change r_texturemode in your QL config to "GL_LINEAR_MIPMAP_NEAREST". That might help a little.

If none of that helps, I don't know what it could be, but just make sure you clean up your system so you don't have too many useless processes running and make sure all your drivers are up to date - especially video card and sound card drivers...

It could just be that it is largely psychological and that you just need to get used to the new setup. Some people say that resolution makes a big difference to sensitivity and accel, but honestly I dont think that's true. Very low resolutions obviously make the game snappier, but that is different from affecting the ingame sensitivity of mouse movement. I might be wrong, but logically there shouldn't be a difference and in practice I can't tell any difference, so if there is, its so small it shouldn't be too much of a problem once you're used to it. One thing that will make it a bit weird to get used to your new setup is if the aspect ratio of you monitor is different from your netbook aspect ratio. So if your netbook was 16:10 and your monitor is 16:9, that may mess with your head a little until you get used to it.

I did the stuff in the nvidia control panel and checked the cfg commands, now it seems to be more responsive. Also put it on high priority mode.
Though more responsive and a bit sharper, the general feel is that the sensitivity seems to be higher. I will play around a bit with the settings, so maybe I can get that to comfortable levels too.
The rest might just be placebo, but if it does not get away, I might write again.

Lucky you that's a nice monitor so you shouldn't really be having much input lag. You might want to try setting it to 144hz and using the no-motion-blur lightboost tweak for best performance. Just google it for more info...

Actually I have lightboost on. That is why I was so shocked that the general ingame feeling was so weird... Very disappointing at first, but I tried some of your suggestions and it felt better (especially after your suggested settings for qlprism in the nvidia control panel). By now "fixed" the higher (at least it felt higher) sensitivity by upping fov. Still have to try it out for real in some games since I didn't have much time today, but the ingame feeling in practice mode was better.
Btw since I read that lightboost is only possible between 100 and 120hz I didn't even try 144.

Would the same settings apply for an ATI gpu too?

Sorry - I don't know coz I've never used an ATI gpu before. I imagine there will be similar settings though Triple Bufferring, Vertical Synch and Pre-rendered frames are all basic functions of a gpu which should be configurable regardless of the manufacturer. Try googling it, or maybe someone else on the forum here would know where/how to configure this with ATI.
