So I was just watching the group match between dem0n and cooller and I started wondering how new or revamped/mixed sounds for QL would change the overall enjoyment of the gameplay.
Even though I have a strong preferance of the oldschool sounds, I can't help but think I'd enjoy quake more with a variety of sound improvements. Footsteps, ambience and item pickups maybe staying the same, but weapons (both the initial firing sound as well as the hits), doors and teleports.
I may just be rambling nonsense here but I could really do with some more bass'y depth in the railgun, less treble in the LG, and perhaps a completely revamped rocket blast.
Now, it might just be my bad headphones that leaves me aching for a thicker sound, although I have a pair of sennheisers in the domicile that give a much better representation of the sounds as they 'should be beard' that I get to borrow every now and then.
Anyone else feel like a little change on the sound department would improve/enhance the game?
I realize the recipe of the game as it is works, and changing would be unnecessary, basically defining the saying 'don't fix it if it isn't broken', and changing an already well known and rather important part of the game would possibly induce panic for the most part, as change generally makes people uneasy, but I'd just like to know if I'm the only one here.
