TL and MOBA are extreme cases: music, movies, fashion, okey, I can sort of see why they like it, but I just don't understand, how MOBA could become so popular, because in order to enjoy a match you have to be ubernerdy, and know every hero and their abilities. That's what I don't get. SC2 you can enjoy even, if you don't know every unit, not talking of FPS, with amazing shots everyone can be excited about.
TL: Nazis as mods; weird topics; complicated site-structure; fucked up layout and design; I literally cannot understand why people can be appealed by this.

About TL: SC2 is/was huge, TL was one of the main hubs for SC2. Some people like the moderated boards, some dislike ESR for being too "liberal"

ESR will never become a TL - it was taken over and is catering towards a very different demographic, it has a far smaller and much less involved staff roster, and, unfortunately, there are not enough people willing to invest their time into worthwhile site content (news, columns etc).

Candidly, although I think there's still a lot of potential for improvement both in content and traffic for ESR, I'd loathe if that would come at the price of it adopting TL's style of user management. Even though I visit it daily for news and articles, watching these plastic, lifeless discussions on their forums makes me sick. It's like their mods are those guys from Equilibruim or some shit.

it has nothing to do with the game. this place has toxic atmosphere and no moderation. while that causes 10000x less fluff than on tl, it also kills every chance of growing it to 1% size of tl.

you guys here, myself included, have shit on right about anyone, from quake's own developers, over well known community figures (other then 2gd), to developers of other games. :D
