The proper way to say it is:

Explanation: "was" is past tense, while "were" is the subjunctive, which is used regarding "something that could have been or could be" - like the possibility that Jamerio's comment could have been funny (unlikely, but possible).

I am a fan of quake. The tourney at Qcon should be for your noob to average quaker....Something fun to give back to the community. I think it's better for the community overall to have tourneys for lower skilled players than to have the same handful of players at each event.

The event wasn't always invitational and it shouldn't be.
To me it's obvious the company has listened to the fringe hardcore element of their player base for far to long.
Quake live isn't growing. The player base was quite large in 2009-2010.
Now we have a non existent ctf community. No one plays tdm.
There really is no duel community either except the small hardcore element. All that's left is ca and ffa.

The only tourneys left are literally made and run by the community.
Every major event has dropped quake.
There's supposedly a large community according to ql ranks, yet there's barely any views on streams for any tourneys.
These tourneys aren't helping the game grow.
They only satisfy what's left...people like you.
Something needs to be done to grow the community back to what it was.
Tournaments for your average player are a good start.

Barely any views on streams? FaceIt weekly Sunday cups have reached almost 6000 viewers. They generally average at least 3000+ with ease. Zoot usually can reach 1500 on DAILY Quake cups for 125fps.

You realize that QuakeCon has OPEN tournaments for EVERYBODY, right? As in, the AVERAGE player can join these tournaments AND a lot of them are streamed.

last week on faceit they had roughly 1500 viewers according to the esr stream list in my upper right hand corner of the webpage.... while lol had 124,000 some odd viewers.

qcon doesnt have open tourneys. the byoc isn't even open lol.

Last week peak was ~5.3k, previous weeks got close to that as well, if not higher.
There are 1500 viewers even before the games start...
Not sure why would you compare LoL with quake, your previous post is largely unrelated to LoL viewer numbers, it almost looks like you used that as a back up plan for running out of arguments.

I'm comparing stream views. Obviously one is a lot higher than the other. From the standpoint of an event organizer the choice of which game to include in the roster would obviously be the one with the highest stream views if that was a basis of decision making.

Correct, t've tracked flights from major EU cities to some major east coast US cities and honestly if you want to travel in the next few weeks you're going to dish out A LOT of cash.

Maybe you can get a (relatively) cheap two way with two stops ticket, but keep in mind he has to stay there for a few days.

I'd say around ~1700€ sounds plausible.

Not many posting in this thread can read. KNOW ANY SPONSORS. Not sponsor him yourself, with your pocket money, or whatever.

In a sponsor deal, the winnings are split up. Also the player represents the sponsor, by using the products, advertising them, using the sponsor's add-on in the game etc.
So in conclusion, it is not free money. Also, strenx skill is beyond anyones in this thread, and beyond any other players mentioned - he, unlike you jealous haters, has earned it.

The obvious answer is, he needs to do this himself, ask all the sponsors/clans if they'd sponsor him.

On another note, FUCK NO I don't want to see some former good, retired players finding out they suck without the proper practice once again. I have seen this too many times to still care.

I want to see strenx. Instant runner-up for top3.

Too aim based to be that high level. When you aim like that you start to relay on it and make "not that smart" and direct confrontation even in bad position quite often. He is efficient, not that smart. abc game backed up with great and solid aim.
