He's been "So Crates" as far as i can remember. he was at a big lan in canada that i was at back in 2003 and i remember this same conversation taking place.
Although he does have wins against those players, his movement and aim in some situations did seem totally rusty. He played some amazing games when he won but you could tell that he wasn't comfortable with the entire game yet.
remeber randomly tuning in to qlranks stream a few months back to see the new map Cure. Cl0ck in chat said it was someone that was neither vo0 or socrates. i wish i could remember now. basically that someone was playing as Stacey and another as Casey if i can recall right. even my noob self would have remebered if it was either of those people.
few times i tuned in to Faceit Sunday cups I wish I could remember. dont really take notes on such things....
curious , even though its ultimately so unimportant, to find out who it is
I don't know about that. I don't think he'd survive against Evil, Strenx, Stermy or any top tier LG. That's one thing I've noticed watching him lately. His dodge is good but he's lucky to hit over 30%.

rapha said in an interview that he was aware of who is that, and that he was glad to see him playing lately. Should be the same to all the other NA pros as well.
At first I thought Stacy is Fatal1ty. However, his ping doesn't match up since he is West Coast. I asked him in game if he knew who Stacy is and he ignored the question. I don't know, it probably is Socrates, but whoever it is I'm definitely interested in the big reveal.
Hope it is socrates :) would be good for the american scene to have one more of the big names back. With some more playtime to get back in shape he could challenge rapha, dahang, zero4, czm etc
Hmm i still speak with jay from time to time and he hasn't once said hes playing quake, but we don't really speak about gaming so it could be true, he lives in dallas aswell so
Like they'd admit their wrongs without proofs. Don't get me wrong, it's not necessarily their fault. But you have to find out a lot by yourself before you contact them.
It was a joke lol. I have a super stable connection. Not every person warps on my screen but out of 8 people on an ffa server it's at least 4-5 of them. I'm not saying anyone is doing it on purpose, but it is possible. You can write a script and bind it to a key that makes you warp. Then there's torrenting... Whatever the real problem is... it's gotten worse over the last year and a half. When you watch people with 800 elo's out lg people with 2500 elo's simply because they warp there's something going on.
yes, it means we have more casuals playing the game. not like they understand how a computer works. 95% of those that warp havent set up their network properly or are running p2p programs, or both etc.
ive pld ppl that are still too dense to understand basic computers, or have no access to a decent isp, or simply dont care if they warp.
what i meant with 95% is that theyre too ignorant to think they themselves could be the problem, confront them and often they go like well i cant do anything about it, then 20 mins later its, oh wait ive got roommates on the internet. oh i left utorrent on. oh i should probably reboot my pc and router. this that blabla, its just people beeing people.
and yeah it does sometimes happen that the QL servers run like shit, or that theres a routing issue. i just find that this is more of an exception than a rule in the case of warpers everywhere.
so no the netcode isnt abysmal, its not perfect either, but in this case it has nothing to do with anything.
To be fair, id could work its ass off to un-warp warping players by taking some decisions server-side instead of staying in the unknown. So if some client didn't send new information in the last N milliseconds, the server decides on some position/velocity itself and propagates this information to the other clients*. The offending client has then to adjust itself to the server's decision and it's making things bad for him instead of for others.
*instead of the current system, which is : not sending anything and waiting for an update from the warper. That means the other clients have to try to extrapolate the warper's position until the next update. But the longer the waiting time, the more wrong the predictions will be and the difference between the frame before the next update and the frame after the update will be great (hence the warping). Please note that if there is not update for long enough, the client will simply stop extrapolating and just make the warper stand still until the next update (which is pretty much the same thing).
I haven't. I only discovered Quake in 2010. I thought Q3's netcode (no mod) handled things the same way as QL's but I'll just believe you on that (easier than finding servers I could test that on)
no. q3(no mod) netcode is server side not client side. You have to lead your shots... so say at 70 ping you have to keep your crosshairs about one inch on screen ahead of your target... so with hitscan weapons high ping sux... but it is at least accurate. Rail is quite doable.. but lg/mg isn't very good.
Instaunlagged is pure client side i believe. and is playable at extremely high pings (over 200 lol)
cpma netcode is the best which is weird because Arqon (cpm code guru fag guy ) worked on QL.. but it's pretty onbvious that the two differ quite a bit. Playing overseas in cpma is possible and not that bad... that's why there's been cpm nations cups for years. but QL is pretty much unplayable above 80 ping.
I never played q3 on pro hosted servers. they were always instances of q3 run in the back round on someones home pc, or a spare dedicated server pc on the same connection. But it was always smooth....and still is. i do play with my old clanmates from time to time. The only person i can ever remember playing against that was warpy was a guy from north toronto who was on dial up lol... and he also had 150-200 ping... although he would lag out and be disconnected if anyone used plasma for some reason.
I always played with 70-150 ping on mid west to west coast servers and also euro servers... and never experienced the problems that i do at 30 ping in ql. I didn't experience any of this either during closed/open beta.
I'm guessing there isn't enough money to fix the real problems. It's probably cheaper to implement something like race or new maps than to overhaul the code..... So that's my 2 cents lol
could always feel the passion for the game when i played socrates....he would control everything, id hit most things and run away from everything, but he laugh and ask for a rematch.
For me it's a real dilemma. Sometime I like bj's, other times I want the pooper.
Sometimes I like huge titties, other times I want to watch a black chick swallow a vodka bottle tween her butt cheeks... To be a sexual deviant... it's a curse.
who cares? If it is who some have said it is then they shouldn't be allowed to fake nick in tournaments (with prize money ont he line). In fact in many tournaments I heard that you can get disqualified if you fake nick. I don't see why socrates should be a special case just because he hasn't entered a tournament in years.
A character of the text which was unaccounted for, and cannot be accounted for, by the methods being used (ie. the position of letters within the alphabet). If we wish to unearth the secrets of this individual (and by extension society, and by extension the world, and thus the universe) we must be vigilant in our search for truth. We cannot, nay, must not, compromise our quest for knowledge. We cannot, I say, let that underscore underscore our mission. For the sake of humanity - nay, the United States of America - we must continue our search.
The only place where the underscore is mentioned in any way shape or form is the number of characters in the name stacy_. Which has nothing to do with the alphabet. The method being used is for the word socrates, I didn't see where the position of each letter was being used for the word stacy_. Sounds like someone's in a bad mood cause they spilt their bag of milk. :)
It's obvious, with the amount of girls playing quakelive, that the probability of "stacy" being taken as nickname is very high. Therefore a underscore symbol was added without any extra meaning.
Ahah. Just came across this by chance while searching how to draw in a window on a lower level than a library like, say, SDL. sponge directed me towards bitblt afterwards.
