Despite his incessant spam, DOTA_BWOI has a very good point, at least how I interpret it, and no matter how badly you would spam it, that would not diminish its credence- unfortunately a major part of the vocal Quake community are elitists that hold Quake sacred and above all else, and that Quake must be zealously defended by yelling petty insults directed at everyone and every game that is not Quake, regardless of credibility, rational thought or ''eSports' worth''. It's almost as if the town of FPS is not big enough for more than just Quake.

Now, games like Crysis and CoD have just as much right to exist as Quake in their niche of casual 3A timesinks, but surely you don't need to evangelize Quake if people simply favor something else, be it any of the Dooms, CSs or CoDs, if Quake is really that great they will come to it and not the other way around.

It's tough to put my thoughts to words right now, but I personally feel that this particular vocal minority is selling quake as this middle-aged, balding short man who's bought a massive house, a sports car and sent his kids to a top uni purely to prove himself to others. Quake could really be the middle-aged, balding (quite old and receding player base, respectively) man who's really confident in what he does, is an expert in his field and has the time-tried reputation to his name as being a top performer while still going strong, but it's the internet and it seems the keyboard-warrior adolescent types do the loudest marketing for us.

In before the morning when I'm a lot more sober, a lot less tired and actually able to coherently steering complex thoughts together.

QUAKE PLAYERS dissing on OLDER GAMES

The big question here is are they dissing on them because they are older? I don't think so. Age in itself is irrelevant. Of course it has side effects like the limitations in gameplay due to the hardware capabilities at release time. Criticisms on gameplay are valid. Really, I don't think any respectable Quake player would bash on Doom because of its age or even its graphics (which is what Quake is attacked on by COD kiddies and the such most of the time).

Doom graphics, sounds and gameplay are AWESUM.

in regards to "demex has a very shit attitude..." it depends on how well you know him/whether or not you play with/against him frequently. im not going to say i know the guy, because it's the internet, but on the same token, he's never said anything to me that couldnt be construed as a friendly mocking. maybe im just used to the way i, as well as all of my friends, act towards one another.... who knows? demex seems like a pretty straight up dude to me.

regarding your dislike for ca:

i dont really have a taste for tdm or duel, but i enjoy a game of either mod every now and then. i wont say that duel players are better than ca players, or vice versa, but i will say that duelers that play CA semi-frequently have a tendency to have better aim than duelers that do not. the same can be said about CA players that duel frequently in regards to decision making and positioning.
