wtf is a colorbot

The ones that only work with hitscans, you basically choose a colour and when you shoot the crosshair moves to the colour

I ean I play t4 and unrestricted on DE most of the time. And the only time I saw a cheater (or thats what I suppose) was a guy named Qualia.

aimbot is the general term, he was referring to specific types of aimbots or smtg like that :D

What he meant was "autofire", which refers to a cheat in which once the crosshair is over a certain color, it automatically fires.

It rarely misses under this circumstance, so it is tantamount to an aimbot. It just isn't particularly useful for weapons other than the rail.

was just picky about the terms, hard to miss what he meant :P that's an interesting type of aimbot though, could be fixed with rainbow-like maps! In ET some mappers used to trigger/interfere aimbots by adding hitboxes inside the walls, dunno if that's worthwhile in QL though.

This type of bot worries me a lot because it seems particularly difficult to combat. Say in windowed mode the cursor is locked at a specific position, in the center of the window (under some rare circumstances you can even see it). If it isn't in in_mouse 2, it can certainly be in_mouse -1.

As long as the pixels are on the screen, there must be some way to access them. So they make a program that just asks "ok where's the cursor? What pixels are being displayed right near it? If pixels are in these color ranges, issue a mouse click".

Of course an offset would be available to correct for the crosshair not being directly on the cursor, and the ability to test for pixels in your choice of color. This means that the forceenemy colors could just be changed in case the map has those colors, or just for whatever reason, and the colors tested for by the cheat could be adjusted to match.

I heard that punkbuster had the ability to test for these programs, which would be one of the only things it had going for it. I don't see how that would work though.

Just hitting the Print Screen key invokes windows' built-in screen shot function, and it does pick up game apps in windowed mode. It also appears to grab the screen info instantaneously, like there's no lag involved, and it grabs the entire screen, whereas the cheat would only grab a small portion, so it could probably easily look say, 125 times/second without issue : )

So I mean what, taking a windows screen shot would kick you from the game? How carefully could an anti-cheat program watch the behavior of other programs without causing significant lag or stability issues? Could the QL client itself somehow combat this on its own? I can't think of a way : - /

I'm no anticheat coder so won't say much about what ACs are capable and what they're not. And not exactly sure how beneficial that sort of "colorbot" is if you're keeping it in a level it doesn't look suspicious, maybe equals basic 2100 elo aim or so.

What I do know is that as long as it's a online fps-game, people will cheat. And chaplja put it well that an anticheat is a good one when you can't google cheats for the game.

in other games, like halo pc, there are a few different kinds of aimbots. the most common was called the "shift bot" because the bind to toggle the aimbot on was the shift key.

later on, a player named snafu, created a side by side application that changed the bind from the shift key to m1, so that there was no constant tracking with the aimbot, rather, it acted as though you were tapping the shift key every time you clicked m1. the application also had a FOV degree value that you could change to control how far your crosshair would "snap" to the target. anyone with low enough ping (considering you used to have to shoot ahead of people in halo, further ahead for higher pings) could use a lower value in the target FOV range and be nearly undetectable.

satar is definitely top tier for ctf, and ca. His duel is lacking but it shows promise. the issue is that he plays too much clan arena.

But overall i think elpajuo is one of the better ctf players at the moment from what i have seen especially outplaying samer and playing close to pthy in a few games
