Considering to change my ISP later this year.
I'm with telecolumbus right now and my routing is a complete disaster (ita/nor/uk 40 ping, poland/kiev 60, rest 65-70).
Any tips?
The disaster is I have the same ping to god damn kiev as to frankfurt.
Most games in QL are played on german and dutch servers, including duels and pickups - it's just damn annoying..
forget about vodafone. they use fastpath but their routing is crap.
located in germany, i ping the following to ql servers [+/- 5 ms]:
united kingdom: 35
sweden: 35
france: 35 (location got closed)
italy: 40
spain: 55
germany: 55
netherlands: 55 unstable
poland: 55 unstable (what else?)
ukraine: 60
what annoys me the most is, that vodafone changes routing about once in a half year, so i ping 30 ms to ger/nl for some time and then go back to 55 ms. but 95 % of the time the routing is shit. the couple next door uses "Kabel Deutschland" and their tracers during those changes remained at about 35 ms to german ql servers.
you can ask germans with good pings what provider they have but it is hard to judge it in general without taking your own location into account. save some ql-server-ips of different countries to a textfile (cl_currentServerAddress + condump) and ask local friends with different providers if you can tracer a bit.
Same happened with me like 2 months ago. The routing of the internet in my dorm COMPLETELY changed overnight, and since then I ping 80 to DE, 60 to NL, but 50 to UA, 45 to UK and only 30 to IT.
Before that, I had 30 to DE and NL, but same as now to UA, UK and IT.
Oh and by the way, it's only in QL. I connected to a German server in Q3 and bang, still 30 ping.
