I only know a couple of servers that don't have bots and are usually full, if not one then the other. The Jesus server or Ville-Kulla.de. Just open the ingame browser and sort by players. The values between () are bots so pick a server without parenthesis.

I fire it up a few times a year and these servers seem to keep pulling in all the players.

I wouldn't really call Brink a success in terms of gameplay and mechanics. SMART is a completely failed concept. Me and my buddy had very high hopes for Brink, because we both played ETQW competitively, but when we tried it there was this immediate disappointment. It just didn't feel right.

At least ETQW still had a concept of bhop, which could give you an extra edge on some maps if you really mastered it. Circle-cumping certain edges also gave you some fun routes, not very usable in a match, but on pubs they'll prove you useful :') (like on Salvage, the shit I pulled on that map..)

i think as a quake gamer the ue3 use is a bigger problem in fact of the feel of a game.
in etqw i just can run as in quake3&4 ... as fast as some guy in a husky ^ ^

Played it a bit. But due to strict NDA can't said much.

So, as a new modern shooter its quite good and enjoyable. Quite smooth as UE3 engine. It has a bit feeling of ET. And there is competitive support.

its okay to have cooller as playtester, but it would be wiser to have also Enemy Territory veterans.

ut3 engine for multiplayer is open for discussion. i only know one ut3 mp game that is good, natural selection 2. source engine is nice for interaction and physic, but buggy as hell (map and event abuses).

if they dont do extended movement im out. not interested in another cod clone.

the general problem with latest splash damage games, each time i wanted really hard to love them. etqw, brink, but i just couldnt. SD is sensational when it comes to create a hype before release. they are true masters in promotion. im waiting that ESL speaks again of another esport milestone :D

yesterday i played survarium open day. to my surprise i had fun.

stalker graphics, cs speed, rpg systems, only 1 mode now a kind of tdm with fights to collect boxes, maps that suited the mode (maps were great), changeable weather / poison areas / anomalys / artefacts.

I couldnt play it, because of error.
But I hoped for dayz style game and less arcade ;p

Just did tthe sign up.. With a look, loved Rtcw wand et

havent played et, and when i got brink it was already dead, so my closest thing seems to be tf2. push little (in this case big) cart, no medic around when i need one, dispensers,..these kind of stuff.

i have to say, its not bad despite the fact that i had to install nexon. i dont really know why they did not go with steam. maybe it was a too easy and obvious choise.

has 120 fov max, zoomfov cannot be set (also no zoom sens). not too hard to hit hs with snipa, netcode seems to be good even at 70ms

lot of classes, but they are all basic: shotgunner, snipa, heavy, assault, medic, engi... etc

graf on high gives me around 150fps (i7, ati 7870, 6gb ram) loading time is short. game looks a bit outdated. its not prettier than brink.

has mouse smoothing/motion blur/dof, but these crap can be easily disabled in the options. after it, mouse movement feels ok.

has matchmaking
has a simple and easy to learn gameplay and menu

Well, I'll just rephrase it so you and highlander can understand:
DB is just a generic, boring, slowass, low skillcapped modern fps game. So yeah, the core gameplay is pretty close to cod or to any other modern fps for that matter. DB just doesn't have anything special apart from its objective based mode.

The previous ETs are probably good games. To me, DB clearly isn't one

TBH it was much better in the alpha 1 or 2 years ago.

I dislike that any class can do anything, but slower than proper class...

still is quite fun. Played my 1st ranked match too.

The longer development went on it went away from being what ET stands for, it went from a more casual(in a good way) ET, to something like a mix of BF and CS with more movement.

The game got gradually slower and "easier", first they increased the spread while jumping(paradox considering the walljumping), then they disabled reload while sprinting, after that weapons like Nader´s GL got introduced, so on and so forth, also there is the fact that the game hasnt gotten better performance and networkingwise.

For me it became a game like Battlefield, it isnt good enough to be played just for fun, altough i agree with you that is fun, but simply not enough and i would only play it if the support justifies spending time with it, and frankly said Overwatch will make DB practically disappear.

Because of Overwatch... DB shouldn't be casual that much, because all casuals will move to Overwatch... people that even dont play fps games, but Blizz is making that game thats why they will play it lol.

still I like many things in DB, I really like the maps and objectives.
