used to play on 17" crt many many years. cant get used to these big flatscreens. so thatswhy i reduce the size.

you should rather raise fov then or just move the monitor a bit further if it's really that uncomfortable
or just put smth like fov 80 and play for a couple of days so when you raise it back it's gonna feel good
using viewsize is just stupid

Do you have nVidia GPU? If so, change the scaling options to ( no scaling ) and ( display ). Then create a custom resolution that is smaller than your native resolution. In game, adjust r_customwidth and r_customheight to your custom resolution. Then set /r_mode to "-1". Do /vid_restart and you will have the same effect as /cg_viewsize less than 100, though you may have to spend some time adjusting your custom resolution to get it right.

Just tried with that hitstyle and viewsize and didn't get any flashing on the border. Will look at config.

Edit: Couldn't get it to happen online or offline. With yours or my config. Try updating video drivers?

If you back up your configs, delete repconfig.cfg qzconfig.cfg and autoexec.cfg if it exists, then on the website go to game settings --> reset defaults.

Load a practice game, and try viewsize 80 or w/e. Does it still flash?

This test will rule out a config variable if it still flashes.

If not then I'll go through it with a fine toothed comb.

now i get the screenedge flashing when i spectate a game. but it doesnt happen when i play.

I don't see anything unusual in that screenshot other than the color of the border.

The screen edge meaning the edge to the whole screen or as some sort of border around the viewsize? I think you'd need to make a short movie in fraps to show what you're experiencing if that's what you wish to do.

Really it sounds like a graphics issue. Try updating your graphics card drivers. I've seen glitches of this nature happen before with certain driver versions, such as the Radeon driver bug that makes enemy players white in color regardless of settings.

Things that make the screen flash:

cg_screenDamage (non-zero)
cg_muzzleFlash 1
r_dynamiclight 1

None of these should have anything to do with the border though. Also for me the border is grey, whereas it appears black for you. Strange..

I believe he just caught the moment, when the border flashes. Thus it isn't grey, but black with a hint of red. You may try to nail that cvar by resetting to defaults, and then dividing your cfg into pieces and exec'ing them one by one (with vid_restart after exec). You may then narrow your problem to specific cvar.

if u need halp, make a pastebin of the .menu...

Aye, was just going to suggest what Lorfa did. I would definitely try that.

It looks like you have one of those bastardized configs that noctis and/or fox let out into the wild some time ago. I don't know if pastebin messed something up, but I couldn't get that config to load without deleting 1000 lines worth of garbage (1631 to 631), the game would give me a gray screen with MAX_CVAR error. After I got it to load, no flashing other than the xhair.

cfg is a mess yeah. i just copied my old cpma or osp config once quakelive came out :P

i made a new cfg from scratch and updated the nvidia drivers to latest version. problem still persists :(((
