btw. I think BF4 will be better than BF3, more like BC2 or BF2 but it's a game for a short time. First time playing: nice graphic, destruction etc... but boring fast.

I've been playing it and having a lot of fun. It does seem to crash a lot though... Hope this gets fixed asap!

I googled around a bit and apparently the game doesn't like overclocked graphics cards... I set mine to default clock speeds and haven't crashed since. Didn't notice any drop in frames.

overcloacking gfx is so 1999...

Mesh Quality and Lighting Quality are what destroy FPS.

You should be a guest note speaker at Siggraph with that knowledge.

320 drivers worked ok for a while, but its mostly just a crappy beta; cpu spikes that drop fps and microstuttering due to some issues. it already runs better than last week but its still bug ridden. ive preordered bf3 and it was kinda shitty too, so im not falling for it again :>

id wait a month for the most serious bugs to have been ironed out, but expect other shit to not function untill months after retail date :P

problem i have right now is that theres nothing else thats good on the market to play besides quake, i might get it afterall :/

so yeah, drivers matter, some work better than others. but expect new drivers to be more optimized for bf4 in the future; it will most likely run smoother given some time.

also heard that it runs better on win8, due to some mechanism that balances the load better (this is as much as i know about it lol) but again, dice just need to patch up the w7 version anyway.

How do you find 8.1 as an OS? Do you use metro or a classic W7 shell? I'm upgrading on 18th once retail 8.1 drops!

I use boot to desktop classic Win7, classic view with some twists.

Metro is just an "extra feature" which is running in the background. I never use it, and uninstalled the standard apps, so no unnecessary network is used :)

If you want the faster boot, and possibility for newer directx support, it's cool. Otherwise Win7 is just as fine.

At least you can actually play this. I'm stuck on the 314.22 nvidia drivers because anything newer causes all sorts of freezing and crashes on my 550ti (all over the nvidia forums for 4xx and 5xx series). . And BF4 after complaining about drivers is just blank while I hear ingame sounds.

How can you even play something like BF4 with less than 60 fps? The feel of the mouse must be horrible. I'd rather play low to get 120 fps than get some derpaherpa eyecandy that probably distracts more than helps.

Someone on another forum said that they got a steady 50-70 fps using a single GTX 670.

protip: Battlefield is very CPU heavy; get ur cpu on 4.5ghz and the gfx wont matter as much, if its not too old ;p

It might not be ideal for competition but anything with competing teams is competitive, I'm sure it will attract some level of interest from people in the beginning.

Is domination not the same as conquest? Or have BF4 got a new take on domination. I thought they were both different words for the same thing, multiple areas of control that are fought over.

cq =/= domination. As i know bf4 in domination has worst spawns... so probably will be just spawn rape. Also DICE don't really know anything about competition and they are slaves of EA. BF series never was really competitive games... but CQ BF2 was quite cool:

imo if somebody want to play competitive and popular fps should play CSGO or choose something old. Other acceptable games, moba -> dota, rts -> SC2, and some fighting games. Other genres I don't know coz I dont play them :P

BF2 was the same too, but at least the game itself was fun and had many different abilities that had to be mastered to have a proper clan. BC2, BF3 and prolly BF4 will also have shitty netcode and hit registration, but wont be half as fun as BF2.

The game runs surprisingly smooth dispite my 'old' pc. around 60fps everything on low (cuz fuck flashy blurry gfx, moar fps!) 460gtx and 1366 i7 on 3.6ghz, win7 x64.

i think the maps have become a bit smaller, but ive not seen them all. so in that respect its less battlefield and a lil more cod. teamwork does get rewarded alot better though, so thats one plus at least.
