just use synapse and the latest firmware it updates too on the 3.5g (not black edition, that's slippery). If you don't like high lift-off distance then take a risk with the early firmware on a 2013 edition, but personally i'd wait on that one.

Wait, what? I've been using it with my 3.5g for about 2 weeks and i've had no problems at 1800dpi, i also saw no change when i updated to Synapse in the first place. Have you got a link with more information? I find it hard to believe that anything has negatively effected the mouse for the settings i use, at least for me.

I know that i can now change to whatever dpi i want in increments of 100, but would using any of the standard 900/1800/3500 settings be effected (obviously not 450, can't select that anymore)? I'm not so sure considering my ability has not dipped, perhaps not all values are software interpolated. From what i have read, the major criticism with synapse is that it's 'DRM' like software, and for some (including myself) it loads after everything else on windows start up on my SSD. But performance wise, could you elaborate on altering the 'tracking algorithm'? Generally I've been happy with Synapse and I don't find the whole need to log in on first installation a personal issue, but if I've missed something and my game is actually being effected on a level i'm not noticing, i'd still like to know for peace of mind.

**edit** I did change monitor during that period, it's possible (in a far reaching way) that a lower input lag on this monitor has warped my judgement, making using it with Razer Synapse it as it was with my older monitor and 3.05 (or there about).

I'll try the 3.05 drivers again tomorrow, maybe it'll feel faster.

I'm not a fan of implementation, but it makes sense for rzr to go this route. Synapse is a good idea, just executed a little off course.

Tbh, it's case and point that interpolation isn't really bad if you're not worried bout it. I just wish they alternated values for a little more accuracy/IPS boost.

Edit: 450 and 900 DPI were never native values. Just very good halved and quartered recalculation.

But what should be different with using my 3.5g at 1800dpi in 3.05 vs Synapse2.0? It may sound obvious to you but I literally cant find a difference in performance. Input lag only, or something else?

Instead of recalculating off of 3500, it will use the native 1800 DPI resolution.

Zero interpolation latency, more accuracy, higher IPS tracking speed (won't really matter unless you're super low sens)

Edit: If you don't have a problem with synapse, then no real issue.

What should be addressed:

- Fix 1000hz.
- Trigger alternative SROM value when scaling at or below 1800.

Sadly, cant see it now that 4G is out.

So basically: "don't use synapse if you want best performance (or you use 3500dpi)... though that might change in future if razer remember the 1%". Thanks for info, appreciate it.

I have a 2013 here, do wonder what it's native dpi steps are, on first install it defaulted to 1800. Will keep following the OCN thread on that mouse.

I personally believe its a single registry value of 6400, but that's mere speculation on me.

"Native resolution" refers to a set/fixed resolution used in LCD display technology. This does not apply to sensor resolution.
I am going to assume that what you are asking for is the true sensor resolution on the Deathadder 2013. The true resolutions is 6400 dpi as Razer does not use interpolation nor any other software tricks to artificially increase/inflate the sensors resolution.

bumping this with the information I gathered so far.

1- DA black version cannot be considered because it is slippery to hold (nvc). so it does not matter how the sensor performs with that

2- The DA 3.5 is fine as long as it uses the latest firmware? there is some debate if it is better with synapse or worse with it.

3- in alot of places ppl mention that the mouses run best at default 1800 dpi.

4- the wmo that I always favored has a high LOD, I assume the 3.5G has a similar LOD. if it is more I can always use the magic tape solution.

So I guess there is no hurt in trying out the 3.5G!

3.5G is fine. Too much illogical bias and praise of 3G.

wmo LOD is more than DA LOD and the 3.5G sensor is perfect and never really slippery to me there's always enough sweat and dirt in your hands to have the friction needed, always used 3500 dpi it was fine and used firmware too no problems with that either, DA 3,5G surely the best mouse sensor-wise and pretty much flawless in any other way too, changed to wmo simply because its weight was too much for quake (my preferance)

I kinda worry about the LOD because the mouse I tried after the abyssus was the kinzu and its liftoff was extremely low compared to that. The moment I lifted it off the pad it would stop tracking and I can never get used to that, made me paranoid even using it. Add the accel problem of the mouse itself and it was unusuable for me. The abyssus was very similar to the wmo so it was fine concerning the LOD.

kinzu is crap no doubt but DA isnt =o and like I said wmo LOD is less than DA LOD and took me few moments to get used to it (wmo LOD) but im perfectly fine with it now

Sidenote: it is really fucked up that I have to do so much research to buy a gaming mouse, all sorts of sensor problems should never have made it out of the mouse testing phase...!

I used the abyssus for quite a bit. it had 0 sensor problems. great mouse, but sooner or later I realized the shape was not for me after the 10th time losing control of it mid combat! it just didint fit my grip

I went back to my wmo, which is fine really.. good ol friend who always will have me back. but I always felt like there is a mouse out there that will fit my grip better then it, so now I trying stuff out so atleast i'll know!

I've had a DA(3g) for a few years now, and couple of weeks ago bought an abyssus(both flawless mice btw). at first didnt like it but gave it another chance, and another.. been testing both extensively, and honestly it's hard to see the difference in my performance. at first I thought the DA's weight gave me more stability but I don't think so anymore. I feel slightly faster with the abyssus due to lighter weight and just much more convenient to move around, slightly better tracking with wrist movement also. I can grip both mice comfortably, DA being prolly a bit better in that regard unless you have very small hands...

so just saying the increased weight is something to consider imo, if u had light mice before. but you're right, there's always room for improvement and never hurts to try out new things if you can.

the inwart slanted shape intrigues me because I use the claw grip alot, my hands are quite big so I might actually use it well in that regard. Atleast it's worth the try!

3050 or 3090 sensor (roccat savu/lua, zowie ec1/ec2 evo, zowie am), everything else is shit

what does the abyssus use? I can tell you 100% that it has no accel no skipping no z axis problems. Shape might not be right but thats personal preference.

It uses the Avago S3888 which is very similar to the A3090, because the A3090 was sort of based on it (their distant "ancestors" are the A3060 and A3080, so they both kind of come from that originally).

I see, just now I noticed the DA 3.5G also uses the Avago S3888.

So technically (barring faulty firmware) the 3.5G will perform the same as the abyssus!

then you're doing it wrong, better using the tape fix than the customized lens on an EC1/2 eVo that makes the mouse malfunction on a number of surfaces (unless you use one that works).

Lift off isn't much of a problem if you know how to combat such issues... but even on dark black surfacing, practice can go a long away.

As much as I would like to see it, Zowie won't bother investing into proper hardware. They're quite set on simple fixes (custom lens) which just end up noticeably distorting alternative resolutions (DPI). The same thing happens with logi's G400 (also custom lens) though less severe due to other factors.

Could very well be a cost factor. I don't know.

3050 is actually quite weak.

I rather have Pixart 3305, but too many complain about certain alternative algorithms programmed into ROM code...

ok I have had the DA 3.5g for a few days now and a short review is in order to close this thread up.

1- sensor is indeed perfect, it is however very highly susceptible to what software you use with it (explained below in a bit).

2- I have not tried it with no software at all so no comment to that

3- synapse is retarded, installed it after I noticed razer's manual firmware update failed. synapse just kept saying "please plugin a synapse 2.0 supporting device". turns out many ppl get this problem. I just wanted to check what firmware was installed so I left further research for later.

4- after 3-4 days I was still happy with the DA, although I must say it was almost too smooth after my wmo, but I kept at it and it had no jitters or accel as far as I could tell, still I felt a bit "out of control" but figured at that point it was just me getting used to the mouse feel/shape.

5- 4 days after I decided to look into what firmware is loaded. since the firmware update could not read the mouse and synapse failed as well I decided to try the legacy drivers found on razersupport.com, figured they would still be updated enough after all these years to not have any bugs etc.

6- the legacy drivers did work fine, they read the mouse correctly and reported that the mouse was already shipped with the latest firmware (2.45 if i remember correctly), after the legacy driver installation I got a weird "bonus" performance increase too, in game sens felt less but even with a little adjustment to bring it back to my regular sens the mouse felt more responsive! I don't know how I can even explain this really, previously it had no jitters or accel like I said but this still feels more responsive. The mouse ships with default 1800 dpi and I did not change that with the legacy driver too so its not that. perhaps me uninstalling synapse before the legacy driver installation could also indicate synapse 2.0 in itself was the culprit here.

So there you have it, the mouse is perfectly fine and even more so with the legacy drivers (maybe subjective, but I honestly believe I have enough experience to tell that a mouse is more responsive), no explanation for this. just wanted to let people know.

tl;dr. mouse is good, synapse is bad and perhaps even hampers performance, use legacy drivers if you want to try anything.

I've just found my old Razer Deathadder I believe it's a 3G 1800DPI serial number is RZ01-00150100 but not sure of the exact model. bought before 2007 though.
