You guys could implement a visual hud editor. ezQuake has an integrated one, you can change everything in-game. This should be easy to do for noobs too, at the moment is incredibly obscure.

Would also like an update on QL 2.0 now that you replied to me :)

Some suggestions i've heard from a number of people including implementing a Dota2-LOL model where premium content can be unlocked by playing. This would make people want to play more. I don't think forcing people to pay to have an even experience with the people that do pay and expecting good numbers in terms of playerbase is a wise idea. Again look at Dota2-LOL, you can compete at top levels without expending a penny, this is impossible with QL as you need to pay to properly train.
