The

#ctfpickup team is inviting everybody for the today's special CTF day. Each game today is played in 5on5 format.

This has different reasons. First of all we'd like to see whether 5on5 is working for Quake Live or not. CTF has always been played 5on5 back in Quake 3 and we'd like to look back on that. Another reason is, that we'd like to bring a bit more variety to CTF. We may have a few more special events for the upcoming Sundays.

Map pool

We hope you'll enjoy the games and have fun grabbing the flag.

If this is aimed at attracting new comers to the party maybe consider reducing the map pool a little for the day. Have something like Japanese Castles, Spider Crossings, Camper Crossing, Courtyard.

For me the main reason for not playing ctf is the lack of time to learn a lot of new maps for ctf. I can imagine I am not alone to be somewhat discouraged by the amount of maps you need to know and ctf relies most heavy on map knowledge from all the game modes in quake.

I don't think it matters much wether they use the map pool from the op or the one you are suggesting.

Since the admins finally decided to unban makie, we even had pickups running at 5am yesterday.

Q1CTF was played anything from 6v6 to 8v8 - most clan games i played 7v7.

Do it again! I missed it for a couple of hours.
I suggest to change adding options so people can add to 4v4 or 5v5 games. In this way, we can see what CTFers want to play.
Pickups are about having fun, not for the competition.
