don't buy the g400, go for the g400s instead.

i don't know how much time you need to adapt to a new mouse, but if you were playing for a year with the DA, changing to a g400s will take you some time to adapt, cause yep it's not the same sensor at all.

i personally switched from an abyssus to a zowie am, and i'm still not completely used to the am sensor.

dunno how it works for you, but at least it's like that for me.

g400 is the best experience I had so far, it feels and lies in my hand better than on many gf's breast and she has had third size

they both have the same sensor, but the g400s has an updated version of the srom

in terms of durability g400s mouse buttons are said to last twice as long (20 million clicks), but lot of people say they preferred the feeling of the original g400 button clicking

G400s looks hideous. I think they updated the lens or the sensor to some extent. Also read in various threads that the g400s might have some prediction (Zero delta thingy) that can only be disabled by installing the driver. The thing about the switches is right, the 'non s' version might get squeeky buttons after a while, but this problem fades away with time aswel. Last but not least, the new g400s has a better reinforced cable, 'non s' had this cable problem going on for it when you're being careless with it.

I'd get a G400 'non s' if I were you. Have one myself, satisfied with it. Probably goes with a discount since it's going to be end of life soon!

ahh ok. never had a mx500. i used the mx518 for quite some time. and compared to it, the g400s feels way more "solid" and responsive.

care to specify what exactly feels cheap about it?

It maybe more responsive but we are talking about material that it is made of. The difference is huge. 400 doesn't look solid for me at all, the material looks and feels fragile. 500 was the best in that case. Compare htc high end plastic phone with samsung cheap shit and you will get it.

i use high sens (15cm/360°) and a normal palm grip, and yea well, g400s feels great

Heh i've never cared to measure it with a ruler :D . You would have to check it for yourself because I am visiting my parents this weekend and don't have a opportunity to do it until monday. If you're curious enough, there is a cfg in my profile. I use 1000dpi/1000hz with my g400.

the weight was coming from the densitiy of the material for the buttons which had no benefits otherwise.

other than that, g400 still uses the same design(also internal) and same materials(also the coating) and i bet it's still produced in the same factory.

Yup, but thanks to that density it felt more massive and resistant to mechanical breakage. I was using it even with the weight and it was perfect. It depends of personal preferences.

it's not a mouse, it's a brick... wich might be just fine as long as you don't play fast fps games

I just cut a little from the cable and resoldered it. Any1 with a soldering kit can do it for you in 5 minutes (like a TV repair specialist at the corner, etc), but you gonna need new feet if you can't reapply the old ones (I couldn't).

I use hyperglide but they wear off fast:(

not sure why you're finding mouse recommendations based on other people's opinion. I mean, we all have different shape and size hands. but yeah, both mouse suck. Not sure why you're using those crap mouse

Op if you are comparing it to the mx5**, be adviced that the g400 has a sharp edge on the right, and I actually had to sandpaper down that one because it hurt my pinky.
