He's got the viewerbase and he's putting a lot of time into streaming, that is true. but he doesn't emphasize being a professional too much and he his casting at quakecon was a million times better than what he does on a day to day basis...

I think both faceit & zoot deserve a sub. Faceit guys are running their own show and theyve costs to cover in order to keep on going, zoot is there streaming 4 times a week. So both are perfectly worth it, if your aim is to donate for the sake of quake. Qlranks the same.

If youre willing to give away some significant amount of money, maybe you could talk to 125fps guys and with their help make a 2v2/4v4 tdm tournament, as were seeing almost none atm. Especially 2v2 feels very unsupported, yet imo offers the most entertaining experience.

i just think there are better casters out there. at least the way he does it now. he definitely has the potential, as he's shown on quakecon. so it's not a question of ability. that's what i meant.

but I can't spend my money on all so I need do find the best option for myself. and if there are casters out there who do it better (right now) and where I think their casting style is more appealing to the masses I would rather spend my money there in favor of quake.

With the current state of things the answer is yes.

Should you spend money on zoot's stream? Yes.

Should you spend money on Faceit's stream? Yes.

Should you spend money and donate to 125 fps? Yes.

Should you send me money so I can start a tournament? Yes!

As you can see, anywhere you spend money in Quake currently, it will be used and appreciated.

That's funny because I think zoot is the only person worthy of subscription, he's working his ass off day after day after day and is doing a major promotion for QL, he's far from being "just a caster", all his community efforts shouldn't go unnoticed. Regarding professionalism, obviously he can't match faceit just yet, but he is on his way there, both by viewing numbers and presentation.

it's not the AMOUNT OF TIME he spends in casting. but HOW HE DOES IT. and as he showed us before, that he can do it differently, I seriously don't know why his casting style changed so much after quakecon. one possible explanations: he doesn't put in as much effort as he did at quakecon into how he choses his words and thinking about what he says and not eating cupcakes on stream. that' s all im saying. i never said he didn't have the heart or he didn't stream enough.

You are coming from the wrong side. Zoot's stream is not about so-called professionality, it's about passion to Quake, to viewers, to Ins! It's about interaction, having informal atmosphere and Quake once again. So imagine you have QCon 'version' of Zoot 4-5 times a week. Damn, how boring would that be.

On topic though, I don't really understand you. The title says "I wanna spend money on Quake" and yet you _consider_ spending or not 5 damn bucks (you are not living in Zimbabwe or some shit). So yes, zoot/faceit subscription is the bare minimum on what you can spend few $ to support Quake.

thanks for clarifying zoot's approach to streaming. then i just have to conclude that it's not for me, but it's apparently a lot of people who like it the way it is (this thread bears witness to that).

Considering your preferences I'd again suggest supporting FACEIT by subbing/playing their money cups, if you like professional approach to casting and presenting their show.

yeah it's a lot, at least for us people. for euro-currency-members it's ok. but if it were like $1 cheaper, I think the inhibition level would be much less.

Commercial or not, they are not sustainable without subs, viewers or general support from the community. Shrugging and saying "meh, they are commercial anyway" won't keep them afloat for long either.

If you're not happy with either of them, there's probably gonna be another #tdmpickup draft that could use a prizepool.

tl;dr every "organisation" in QL needs donations right now, none of them are more important than the other, they are all vital and crucial parts of the community.

Save your money for future LAN-events and support players who are short of money. Get them to attend. This will grant the whole community + the pro's a lot more pleasure and amusement.

Yes indeed, that would be lovely.
But in reality seems like twitch gave up on trying to fix anything in EU for many months now :X Also, iirc there was a Firefox fix.
Just consider having Chrome for some streams to watch, seems like that plugin helps most of the people.

i prefer voicing my opinion by not throwing money away, or to even watch/use twitch.

granted the majority of people still watch things with lag so it probably doesnt help.

its a shame streamers have deals with twitch, an abysmal streaming platform with incompetent owners.

if it is a big amount of money best way to spend it imo is by supporting/sponsoring a LAN, wich is what Quake needs the most right now. As you pointed out 125fps and FACEIT dont really need that money.


However, if you want to spend it on FACEIT these are my ideas:

-You can help to fly to italy some pro who you wanna se casting on FACEit sunday cups along with ddk (now that they appear to need guest casters). Cypher or Av3k could be one of them since they never been there.

-Tell Faceit guys to organize one all or nothing NA cup before the Fall season finale, then you help the winner (err rapha / Dahang) to fly to europe to play the final with the euros.

-Sponsor first ever FACEIT LAN.

-Sponsor 2nd FACEIT Legends Cup.



i also loved the idea of sponsoring some guy to go to DH, it could be Strenx, czm, ZeRo4, whoever, you just need to get in contact with the player. Make a tag that you like and make them wear it for fun to feel somehow satisfaction when you see them playing at the tourney.

sponsor me so i can become a pro player, you'll get some fresh blood on the scene, and cool interviews
