I didn't upload it for my own sake.

I uploaded it because of the high demand from people in the community.

I didn't enjoy the match by any means, nor did I try my best to maximize my result, as I was sure I would get raped.

Strenx basically gave up before the match had even started. What was I to do? Just forfeit myself instead? Nah, I continued in spite of the horrible match it was.

sothis can be proud to beat strenx BUT it is kinda obvious that strenx lacks a huge amount of focus in this game which is his fault cause Sothis seems to be a duel player who will not forgive such an approach, no matter how good.

strenx has complained about sound issues before on his streams. not sure how much it is whine and how much objective truth but in this game he seemed to look the wrong way or caught completely off guard more often that you would expect from such a high caliber player.

QL sound system has always been shit. Maybe SM s.s. is better and wasn't used to it anymore

(they'll just tell you 3d sound isnt broken because 3d sound does not exist in the code. Well that is about as broken as you can get imo lol, for a 3d dm game...)

How does 3D sound actually work? I thought most of the up/down cues we use in real life required head movement, or context & expectations.

Vertical sound is a years long issue existing specifically in QL, as opposed to Q3 and all other fps games I've tried. It affects everyone.

Though it could also be that the headphone is not fully plugged :P

OK, thanks for confirming. Back after years of inactivity I'm constantly caught off guard and wondering whether QL is fucked or I'm just totally not used to the sound anymore...

I'm not really sure heh, but play Half Life mods with a3d sound engine (tfc/cs/dod/dmc/hldm/etc) and compare it to qlive. World of difference.

They could fix this if they wanted as we move back to a non browser game ;)

I can't be responsible for people mocking strenx, nor am I responsible for people crowning me as the guy who retired him, which, in all honesty, isn't true.

But it's low to think I "like" to be the man who retired strenx. Sure its a fun thought but I'm not putting much into it, as I wholeheartedly didn't enjoy the match at all, nor am I of the belief that I retired him. He was well on his way to retiring before the match begun, as explained already on his facebook. I just did what I had to, to ensure my own advancement.
And by that I mean that I played through the match to the best of my efforts. I doubt you'd want me to simply forfeit the matches and let him advance; I think it's pretty clear he wasn't in shape and as such, I believe I deserved advancing more than he.

Whatever the case may be though, you've got the wrong idea about me. Read my replies to guard and others above.

And relax, please :) Contrary to those you speak of who mock him, I do not wish to mock him. I have enormous respect for him and also made it clear in my warmup with him; not portrayed in the demo though as it only auto-started as we readied up.

in my honest opinion you dont upload a demo against someone who clearly has problems and had other shit going on not too long ago, and now half of the quake community is mocking him, the guy isnt clearly himself and it prolly hurts him more then anyone else i guess to step back from the things he love to become a better person

In my honest opinion: It is not my responsibility to know beforehand that the guy had problems unrelated to quake that made him retire.
Furthermore; if people demand a demo and I happen to have it, I upload it. I didn't do it for myself, but for everyone else requesting it.

Strenx knows perfectly well that demo uploading, whether it being automatic through QLRanks automatic demo uploader that I use as frequently as possible, is a part of verifying wins or losses if it isn't otherwise on record. If he genuinely had a problem with that, he shouldn't be playing quake to begin with.

I find it hard to grasp that I've been the bad guy in this situation.

Whatever reasons he may have, I'm not involved in it, and I shouldn't be taking the hailstorm from the minority that has extraordinarily high sympathy for him and his personal issues.

Do you actually see anyone mocking strenx' performance in this demo? I didn't.

Strenx unexpectedly announced his retirement on his FB, less than 2 weeks before a LAN he was supposed to attend, and naturally, people are interested in the last incidents which lead to his decision. Why shouldn't they be?

If anything, he is now mocked *less* because people see in the demo that his current performance is far below his usual level and can better understand why he doesn't want to compete at DHW.

Strenx has been the most cocky dude in quake for a long time.. everyone who acts like that knows that anytime he shows weakness it's gonna backfire imediatly and in good fashion.

So far he almost always had the goods to back up the cockyness.. but don't expect people to be nice to him when he fails. I don't even think he expects that..

Why QL have these z-axis sounds issues? Id has released this errors in some update readme? I hear Q3 have same problems, cuz a3d was disabled in pr1.27g. CS1.6 too. But I know about it in Q1, Q2 or Q4

I did not experience that sound bug in cpma. Can't remember osp.

It happens every day on streamed tournaments and has existed since 2008 in QL. Still hasn't been fixed.
