Yeah its slightly slower than TN, few milliseconds. Especially with 240hz enabled, it adds input lag in favour of less blur in fast moving pictures. It practically renders its own feature useless for serious gaming.

For gaming id stick to the latest 120hz panels without the fishy technology (like 240hz..), preferably with strobing/lightboost capability. I mean, if you cant hold out till gsync.

I dont think there will be gaming capable amoled panels soon, the big names are still squeezing LCD's dry for a while.

edit; I have to say though, and im not sure if im correct on this... But gsync is only truely useful with 'subpar' fps, to create a smooth picture with little power behind it so to speak. It seems somewhat redundant when a game is permanently stuck on and limited to 120fps, like QL.

240hz aint any fishy technology, it is the same thing as lightboost

its a postprocessing thing, it takes time to process the image. i think ive read it changes the input lag from 12ms on 120hz, to around 18ms with the 240 feature on.

do have to say i havent tested it myself, so cant say if itl be noticable or not. playing some promode on QL should give a good idea, to those who can test it out. ^^

i just dislike input lag -as any quake addict should- all the while my current monitor isnt perfect either. crt would still have a tiny edge on my asus vg236 i do think. but hey im not gonna spend alot of money right away on a better panel, for that ~8ms difference. :)

ps; i think some reviews said the asus vg236 has near 0ms input lag, which is why i bought it. but theres also one that says it has in between 0 and 15ms input lag, more pronounced with dark colors. just a sidenote oO

I have one of those korean ips monitors for work, and I have no idea how to overclock it and if it's actually going to be any good. If there is a clear writeup, saying it's better than 2233rz, I'd be all over it.

If there are IPS panels that can do 120hz, why isn't anyone selling them and officially labeling them as such?

As uber9petska already said, when OCed to 120hz they are more blurry than proper TN 120hz monitors and image quality at 120hz sucks. Mine goes up to 124hz btw.

It only makes sense to use 60hz but morons on Overclock.net forums still don't realize it and think they're getting super PLS image quality at 120hz. All they're getting is shit.

No, these PLS Korean monitors are supposed to be the best of both worlds , 120hz + 8bit panel. In reality you get blurry 120hz and not so good image quality. At 60hz the picture looks amazing, beats any TN monitor out there but you're running 60hz so whats the point :D

I think there's a happy medium to be found at around 100hz where you still maintain image quality and get the high refresh rate. I have mine at 105hz and am very happy with it.

Yeah 96hz was ok for single player games etc. but too blurry for Quake imo.
