quick history recap: play quake for 10 years + and made good frag movies - help friend create and test cheat - get banned - sync unbans him cause he missed his frag movies - get a paying job for faceit quake team
fuck yeah, maybe we all should start cheating, if we also want to get a paying job in e-sports then?
I should have worded it differently, you are right.
The main point is that it isn't some big sacrifice (as somewhat implied by 'busting his ass off') which he has to make, but rather he was given a great opportunity to transform his hobby into his profession.
This is what matters to people, especially to those who think he shouldn't be given such an opportunity given his cheating. Whether or not it easy for him to turn his hobby into his profession is really secondary.
You're right. There's way bigger sacrifices to make. Nevertheless I think he should be credited for the work he's putting into the community now, regardless of what he'd done before.
That's at least how I think about it. If I ever made a fuck up I would definitely try to turn that around and get at second chance. So that's how I treat people, same way that I would like them to treat me if I end up in a similar position.
Fkn ask him yourself. We took everything that we could get our hands on. There's like thousands of things to keep in mind when running a tournament and this does not have priority.
I know ZeroQL cheated and is unbanned but lets be honest guys.
He kicks ass at making his fragmovies and other stuff he does. He made lots of the DreamHack Intros and the "Welcome Back". He has moviemaking in his blood and he makes kickass stuff for Dreamhack :)
rofl the cheating has been really taken out of context. he doesnt deserve to get paid for what seems to be a fulltime job because its related to quake/esports? plz
nobody said that the person (in this case, him) doesn't deserve to get payed for that particular job, just that that job shouldn't necessarily be given to a person who co-created and tested cheats for a game that he is now that much involved in, and frankly he isn't the only one who is qualified for it, i bet there's a lot people who could do it and they didn't do things he did, that's all.
there's a bunch of others cheaters out there that didn't get unbanned, why? is he somehow better than them?
this actually isn't at all about him anymore, i don't care about him, he may actually be a decent guy and all, and judging by what i saw of him, he probably is, but that doesn't matter for what he did in the game, but why did he get some privileges that others didn't?
looks like the "committee" (or whoever the fuck makes those decisions) that decides who gets banned and who doesn't isn't at all objective, rather contrary.
