See, when I open quake, there's no guys twisting my arms forcing me to pay. Can you say the same for yourself? If so, why do you keep talking like you're FORCED to pay? Or play for that matter.

I paid for something in 1999 that's why all id services should be free for a lifetime.

I can play all quake2 3 & 4 for free for the rest of my life. Even my grandchildren will be able to play it for free when I give them my quake games as a gift.

It's for this reason I have no problem paying id for QuakeLive. I got way more out of the original value I paid for the other id titles. I got Q2 for $20 and put in thousands of hours. Making me feel like id did me a big favor by making a game that had endless hours of fun. Instead of wasting my money on BS modern games I'm going to play once, I'll pay a small fee for QuakeLIVE... no problem!

Warsow is great, fun, bitchin'
but the playerbase is like 10 people when 5 of them are developers.

I would say sound is as hard to create as graphics.
And for me they aren't terribad. Nothing special for shur but I don't have problem with jumping and rakieting random people.

i noticed once, i can't set the enemy model/skin just Tankjr & Keel, but with a trick i was able to use Gorre as model, cannot remember exactly if i was as cg_premium 1 set ... i think not

For me personally, the few dollars a month is more than worth what Quake Live delivers: A great selection of servers and gamemodes, the ability to basically have your own server up all day (would cost a lot more to host your own server), a somewhat managed community (they do a fairly decent job of getting rid of hackers etc...), regular content updates, the centralized nature of Quake Live which makes QLRanks possible, and the list goes on.

I can see why some people feel that they miss Quake 1/2/3 because it was "free", but you still had to pay for those games and hope someone else was willing to pay for server hosting.

I'd rather just be able to rent my own server again like in the older games. Less ping issues, more freedom, and I could leave it up with a unique name and start to see a semblance of community servers take shape.. you know like the old days =) it was more money but I didn't mind. Long as QL stays as cheap as it is it'll prob keep getting subs from guys like me that simply don't have any other multiplayer game to frag on!

I dont know all improvements of the last 2 years but I know how much it "improved" in the first 2 years after closed beta... I guess it was 20% of the features from cpma after 2 years! so maybe its 50% of the features of cpma today.

btw I dont speak just about features. I speak about everything. The community, lans & events. You could find pickups games in just a few minutes in 2003 even at midnight.

It's up there somewhere in the thread. He tried forcing _skin_only_ (for example to "sport" or "bright"), letting players be visible with their chosen models. This is a premium setting.

You force _model_ (like crash/bright), that's been there since the beta and remains available to everyone.
