Well, I'm not in the dev team but spoken to crizis and all I know is that they(steam) want to add/change stuff. This is probably why they will release it in a couple of months due several changes changes and all the additional stuff. That's all I know at the very moment :)

How come this game doesnt have a moderate sized userbase?

No financial backing, 1 or 2 devs working on the game. So they're not having a very easy job :)

Isn't the same amount for quakelive?

Warsow has air control and dash button. People don't play it because it's not quake.
Remove air control and dashing and no one will play it because it's quake.

All I can say (as a part of dev team) it should be released in 2015 for 90% sure!
