Doesn't work.

It does launch quake live, but steam quickly says i'm not playing it right after.


I also tried running quakelive.exe with all the command line arguments, but steam truncates it because there are too many characters.

Also tried adding the bat to steam, it drops it as well.

Did it create the exe? I had to put the .bat in it's own folder and then run that converter to get the exe.

Does your bat successfully launch QL on it's own?

yeah the exe converted bat works, but steam still only recognizes it for a second

Put 'pause' on a new line after the line that launches quake live. It will keep the cmd.exe window open and convince steam that you are still ingame.

That works for detection, but the steam overlay does not work if I do that. Even tried the same trick that worked for tera by calling the exe compiled bat "quakelive.exe", which is the same as the real "quakelive.exe" from ID

Start the process from scratch? I walked a few buddies through it with no problems on the first go...

2 of us are on XP and a few are on Win 7.

Steam overlay already works with the method in the OP you linked... Just convert the .bat to .exe
