winz is one of the most successful FPS players of all time, if you actually consider winning a major tournament a worthy achievement.

I like both players. But Winz's is a true champion. Absolutely awesome and bold playstyle and his character just oozes 'champion' imo.

Strenx is/was a great player nonetheless, he just ain't on Winz's level.

Lol? Winz won 1 tournament when there was 2 at the same time. He won one tournament in quake 4 when all good players was at the other tournament.

Strenx won 1 ESWC france quake3 tournament also. So saying winz is better because he won 1 tournament while strenx didnt is just wrong :P

tbh winz won ESWC 2005 in UT (not familiar with names on their scene) along with ESWC 2006 in Q4 with cypher, forever, cooller, etc competing, so I wouldn't say it was a weak competition.

edit: just checked the wiki entry, apparently winz got 3rd in eswc 2007, right behind cooller & av3k, so 3 podium finishes in 3 consecutive years, with 2 of those being top spot certainly beats strenx's accomplishments any given day.

strenx: 1st ESWC France 2008, 2009, 2010.

did winz compete in those? otherwise i dont see why you bring up national qualifiers because that doesnt even compare.

I think winz quit QL dueling rather early. He was rather vocal about some changes they made in the game.

Why would you compare winz and strenx when strenx was like 14 at best when winz won titles in quake 4 and ut ? I'm pretty sure strenx was never a quake 4 addict either, and I doubt he's ever played UT.

The better overall resume I'd say winz then obviously, but that doesn't answer the 'who is better' question.

Also sorry to cut it like that, but strenx was a constant top3 finisher in QL during a golden era: av3k, dahang, rapha, cooller, k1llsen, cypher, spartie, fazz, fox, noctis and he hasnt only achieved at ESWC but also at qcon, dreamhack and IEM.

Finishing 2nd in quakecon or 3rd at IEM5 World Finals sounds better to me than lifting a ESWC quake 4 cup of 8 players including clampok, forever, socrates and 2gd and a cypher who had just turned 16 at the time, eventough it's still quite an achievment indeed.

I would say winz has a higher potential for both duel and tdm, to bad he never really got into ql dueling.
strenx is very enjoyable to watch when his already super aim in on fire.

But in results I think strenx wins out :o

winz is a more polyvalent player than strenx.

winz can play team games/gametypes as well as duel (but for duel, only if he cares about practicing it)

strenx is a pure dueler imho, yes, he was good at shootmania, but it's still a 1v3 game basically like instagib (he started quake with instagib when he was very young), and if you look at his achievements both online and on LAN, you can cleary see that where he shines more is duel.

that said i think that if strenx still played QL duel and winz cared enough to practice it, then strenx would be better than winz (at duel, not tdm nor ctf)

strenx played loads of CTF and TDM. There is nothing to argue when he was active he was better than winz in any gametypes.

maybe at hiddenfortress lg room and sometimes with rail.

but the last quakecon winz won the TDM and CTF tournament, strenx played with clawz cypher etc, and they didn't even reach top3 afaik.

it's not disrespect or clueless to say that about strenx, i actually enjoy watching this player a lot, but like i said, he can be insanely good at duel, but at TDM and CTF he can still play it and be good at it, but nowhere near winz's level imho.
