I'm asking about way of handling keys because it's important - tapping key gives fractional move, while holding - more distant one. 1 step is just one step, while few steps (holding key) makes me move more "stable" from opponent's POV. Or I'm wrong?
The trick is to hit high accuracy while dodging. Most people just focus and fixate on hitting high percentages and disregarding avoiding the damage. Focus on the latter and you'll improve your aim, dodging and combat skill. Just avoid strafe-aiming as much as possible, unless you get handed out moments where you can get free damage onto someone (from behind, side etc).
Just focus on becoming hard to hit in every angle, from far, up close, open areas and corridors. Each situation requires a different set of dodging and utilization of combat skill.
thats what they tell dumb people to make em feel better.
the question itself is ridiculous, cus you can invent any kinds of dodge patterns, combinated with crouching while jumping, no jumping, strafe aiming and or faking movement in one direction.
the question, if thoroughly thought through answers itself entirely. all with a little self-assessment.

You will never be good at passing on knowledge, which is one of the fundamental things humankind has to do. You judge people who ignore certain things and fail to think like the way you conceive is the right way. How do you think the mind works?
People who goes far in life are not people who have the best questions. People who go far are people who dare to ask.
You judge one person because his question is dumb? With that kind of attitude one day you will restrain yourself from asking a question you consider stupid, while others won't, and watch where this will get them.
But if you disagree with this, go ahead, however the worst thing about you and uber9petska is your lack of respect ("dumb", "stupid", belittling others, etc).
Who cares if no one says it or not, you're focusing on unimportant things, just help others that's all that matters. Your parents never taught you to behave, is that so hard to be helpful?
i already answered you in the past. getting personal will make you feel better? its just something i've experienced that if you ask silly questions which wont even benefit you and u could solve on your own, u ruin yourself many chances. end of the line.
You're the one getting personal by calling others names.
So hard to keep it gentle right, he asked something? Just reply.
If it's still so hard to be helpful and only that, well, can't help people of your kind. It would make the world so much better and simple, yet you find reasons to act so harsh, there is no point.
Give some input if his question isn't as bright as you think at least. Instead you throw in short messages as if you're too keen to even develop your genius mind, as always. Exasperating.
basically what alborz said. for my part, i alternate between tapping and holding, as you name it, even in the very same fights. micrododges followed by larger ones mess up your opponent's aim.
don't forget that in a 1v1 situation you have to take into account opponent's sensitivity and playstyle (his dodging pattern and his way of aiming)
but from my own experience what works best MOST of the time (NOT everytime) against any opponent (except a few of them) is to :
- do short strafes + long/large strafes and few med strafes
basically what you do is :
- left right left right left riiiiiiiiiiiiiiight leeeeeeeefffft right left right left right leeeeeeeeeeeefffttt right left right leffffttttttt righhhhhtttttt left right left right left
short strafes make you harder to get a lock on you while long/large strafes add some 'dynamism' to your dodging pattern, and also make you change position and that's called something like 'a decal move'. Also if your opponent is still doing short strafes only, it makes aiming on him easier, cause basically you aim at his 'sides' and nullify his dodges. Add some med strafes to the mix to make you more unpredictable and you're good to go!

I hit about 40 % lg (not as hard as Arrw, z4muz's little brother, who hits harder than toxic in vq3)
I can confirm what gone and heartless said. But I want to add that it's slightly better to move more to the right side, so the opponent has to move his mouse left where the mousepad has less space or rather the mouse will hit the keyboard in most cases.
Also it is significantly harder for me to shaft russian or other high ping players.
This is a good idea, the right strafe tip. But it works less with people who don't have their keyboard next to the left side of mousepad :D. But thanks I will try this and see how people react to right strafe compared to left strafe if I abuse it :D.
It's not. In the last month I learned how bad I actually dodge in certain situations and it is quite hard to improve that or lets say break the bad habits.
Well, so far not much as it is quite hard to get read of my habits/patterns :P. People just told me that I suck at dodging and eat way too much avoidable damage. I always assumed I was quite good at it. Quite the opposite is true tho -.-. Now I suck at dodging, timing (laziness) and positioning aka brene.
First I tried to improve it while playing duel. Didn't quite work out. Takes too much effort and focus and it made me realize how fucking bad I actually dodge in duel. Hence I play some 1v1/2v2 ca vs decent guys and they tell me what I'm doing wrong or can do better. Dunno whether I'll manage to improve it but it's something I have fun at which I didn't have in a long time playing ql.
