Another option would have been to ask a pro subscriber to invite you to a premium duel server. That's free.

If you think on the long term, it's more economical to pay a subscription for 12 months straight. You could also have both chosen a premium sub and used a normal premium duel server.

Add a nolifer with pro-subscription to your friendslist who's on QL 24/7 and ask if he wants to host you a game each time you want to play your m8.

atm their model expects you to play the game daily/weekly, but let's be honest, most of the playerbase is like that, If i were you i'd download q3 + cpma or edawn. cpma has vq3 and edawn has a QL ruleset.

QL has a bigger playerbase and it isn't as outdated but I believe q3 is more 'functional'. Dunno, from an outsider point of view it sure is the same game. Whatever your choice is, happy fraggin' !
