2. record time of frag
3. close out
4. browse to demo folder
5. copy demo to wolfcam
6. copy demo name
7. start the game
8. fiddle with config resolution
9. start demo
10. find that damn spot x 5 times for trying
11-xx record gif

I'm sure it will either get added, or someone will work out a reliable way.

Seems for now bandicam (10 min with free version) is the way to go, can use nvidia cuda for speed.

That's because gifs were not designed to make this kind of movies, they are extremely inefficient.

Use fraps, upload to youtube.
Better quality, sound and does not slow down the webpage when you view and its not forced on people.

Drag it down onto create new composition
Render it out to H.264

I just captured 18 second video at 30 FPS, was 222 meg avi from fraps with sound, was 12 meg by the time it came out of fraps with same rez and quality, you're looking at 3-4 meg with lower rez and quality, still vastly superior to any gif.

(Took less than 2 minutes from the time I had the Fraps video. So little effort I even upped it.)



That gif you showed was over 6 meg for a few seconds, half the framerate, no sound, low rez, bad quality, no chance of embedding etc

Or get one of those new nvidia cards, they have built in demo record.

I won't argue that it's easy and quality of course is better. But only when you already have everything set up and figured out, and even then it's quite a hassle. Every time someone gets an intent to record a video they have to jump through endless setup hoops like:

wolfcam or client
config
what to record with
quality quality quality
size + time to upload to youtube (not the fastest)

I made a few videos myself, but even if you have a setup, there's barely any guarantee you remeber how to do everything fast and everything is still working since you maybe installed win 8.1

Explored interim solution:

Using gifcam http://blog.bahraniapps.com/?page_id=21 to record from demo

1. Config:

r_fullscreen 0 //or just minimize with alt_enter
r_mode 2 //Need to reduce screen size for file size
r_picmip 10 // and reduce colors to make sure program does not choke on high detail textures
If you are in wolfcam and know the timeline you can set r_draw2d 0 to remove crap
vid_restart

2. start gifcam and size it around the game window
set recording option at 33 FPS.. anything below this comes out choppy, but the size will also go down. It will be about 1Mb per second (sucks)

3. save with default settings, all other options suck for quake because of ever-moving screen
