If you make it just an anonymous travel resource site... ie, people can anonymously upload photos/videos or write their thoughts of X location and it stops there, cool, but the minute you start with user profiles and followers and badges and all that AIDS fest, I for one will not be participating thanks. No sir! Just my 2 dollas.

the idea was to have in-app advertisements which can be removed with one upgrade payment on appstore. not sure about other costs though.

at least the idea itself wasn't bad, as a company has already raised a lot of money from it.
